ERL and EMEA Masters – Format Changes for the LoL 2025 season

After announcing updates to the license agreements within the LoL EMEA tier two scene, Riot Games has announced the new format for the 2025 competitive season.

With the goal of aligning ERLs and EMEA Masters to LEC, the competition will now consist of three splits, giving players more opportunities to showcase their skills.

Tournament organizers will be given more flexibility regarding the tournament formats to tailor to the local community and audience while EMEA Masters will now have three events throughout the year. More details on the EM format will be revealed at a later date, each will feature unique variations in length and structure.

This means that EMEA Masters will be following a similar schedule to the LoL global events, which have been increased to three in 2025. Check out all the information on the newest LoL international event.

Fearless Draft is also coming to Tier 2

Just like in the major leagues across the globe, Fearless Draft will be introduced in the Winter Split and will work in the same way as the tier-one competition. This means more exciting drafts as well as more champion diversity in the new season, which will also have several changes to the map.

Schedule

While each ERL will have its own schedule, Riot has defined some key starting and ending dates for all competitions:

  • ERL Winter Split: January 13 – March 9
  • ERL Spring Split: March 24 – May 30
  • EMEA Masters Winter: March 17 – March 23
  • EMEA Masters Spring: June 3 – June 21

According to Riot, the Summer Split dates will be announced later in the year. Check out our LoL section for the latest news and content coverage.
