LoL Patch 14.15 sees first changes to Swarm

Today marks the launch of the first Swarm changes coming to League of Legends. Riot made it clear they are not focussing on nerfs this Patch unless something egregious impacts how the game is being played. These changes are to directly enhance the experience in Swarm to ensure the mode is stable heading into future patches. Here are some of the major  Swarm changes for LoL Patch 14.15.

Boss Enrage Changes in Swarm Patch 14.15

The first and major change coming to Swarm in Patch 14.15 is boss enrages. Previously, after five minutes, bosses enraged invisibly and their damage would one-shot players. After seven minutes, bosses would kill all remaining players who survived after the first five minutes.

The changes to boss enrage see bosses glow red after five minutes. For the next thirty seconds, the boss deals 20% extra damage and then releases a nova that kills all remaining players.

“We’ve reworked boss enrages to be a bit clearer,” said Riot Sakaar. Additionally, this impacts how Aatrox works. Enrage timers on Aatrox will now reset when he enters his second phase.

Riot has gone to great lengths to ensure each champion feels great when playing Swarm. Unfortunately, this isn’t always possible, but it’s appreciated nonetheless. There are plenty of buffs to go through.

Starting with Bosses, players have been figuring out a way to avoid Aatrox during phase two. This is no longer the case, and Aatrox can now reach those parts of the map. Briar wasn’t as strong of a boss as she needs to be, Riot has buffed Briar’s boss fight so she deals more damage. Rek’Sai in Patch 14.15 sees two changes with the first being she no longer shotguns champions when they are knocked up. The second is that Rek’Sai’s missle hitbox has been decreased to match her visuals.

Swarm Champion changes

Riot addresses all nine champions in their Patch 14.15 notes, but only seven have received changes. Here’s what’s to come in the upcoming patch:

  • Briar: Briar’s evolved weapon no longer permanently loses its ability to apply bleed when she dies. Briar’s E damage reduction is doubled.
  • Aurora: Her E now detonates existing hex marks on cast. Aurora now gains untargetability during ultimate casts. Fixed bug where she would remain untargetable.
  • Illaoi: Tentacle length now scales with area size, making them visibly larger.
  • Yasuo: Wandering Storms tornado zone now scales with duration and area size.
  • Seraphine: Fixed multicast issue for multiple projectiles.
  • Jinx: Passive movement speed is no longer multiplicative.
  • Leona: Light of the Lion’s Sunlight effect is now properly triggered by all weapons. R no longer permanently loses its ability to stun when Leona dies.
  • Riven + Xayah: Riot thinks they are perfect in the state they are currently in.

Improved quality of life changes for Swarm

In addition to champion changes in Swarm, Riot added four quality-of-life changes to the game in Patch 14.15 just to make it feel a little bit better to play. Firstly, Searing Shortbow, Evolved Embershot, and Yasuo’s Wandering Storms have all received improved performance. General game performance has been improved. Achievement progress for picking up Vacuums and Bombs will now apply to the entire team. Finally, players will receive confirmation when they catch the Red Dot.
