LoL Worlds 2024 Play-In Stage draw results
On September 1, G2 Esports defeated Fnatic in the 2024 LEC Season Finals to win their fourth title of the season. And with most of the Worlds teams already locked in, Riot Games held the play-in draw show immediately after the Grand Final.
The play-in stage will feature 8 teams from the minor regions as well as the third seeds from the LEC and LCS to determine which four squads will join the remaining 12 in the Swiss stage.
VCS and PCS will each get two representatives in the play-in stage, with LLA and CBLOL each only getting one team.

According to the format, the eight teams are seeded into two double-elimination brackets where the top team of each group will directly advance to the Swiss stage. The second team, instead, will be decided through a second qualification match.
In the first bracket, MAD Lions have been seeded against VCS team Vikings Esports while PSG Talon will face the CBLOL team. In the second one, GAM Esports will face Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS Gaming while LLA team Rainbow 7 will face the third seed of the LCS (one team between TL, FLY, and 100T). Each match will consist of Bo3 series.

My thoughts on the LoL Worlds Play-In Brackets
It’s still too early to say how each region will compare to one another but there are definitely some favorites at this stage. One of them is likely going to be PSG, which made it to a top-eight finish at MSI and showed they can be close to some of the best teams in the world when on form.
For all the teams in the first bracket, they will be a tough opponent to face, including for MDK. Speaking of the Spanish team, they are going to be a big question mark coming into the tournament considering their recent form.
In the second bracket, one of the teams who was expected to qualify was 100T but they dropped surprisingly against R7. It will be now an uphill battle for the LCS team as they have to face two PCS teams to advance. Given how R7 played, they might have the chance to make the upset happen, even though both PNG and VKE have looked decent in the first days.
