LoL’s TheBaus Reveals He Quit Pro Play After Los Ratones Missed LEC Versus Playoffs

League of Legends content creator Simon “TheBaus” Hofverberg has announced he is quitting professional play following Los Ratones‘ elimination from LEC Versus playoff contention on the final day of the regular split.

The streamer revealed the news on his livestream on February 11, when a viewer asked him about his future in chat.

TheBaus Quits Professional League of Legends

TheBaus noticed the comment and responded about what he is personally doing regarding Los Ratones.

“I can only speak for myself of course. When I joined this little project a year ago, I was never going to become a pro-player—that was never the plan,” TheBaus said. “I was just going to try it out for one year and be done with it. That’s why it’s so sad that we lost because I feel like I had a little bit more in me to give. For me personally, I’m not playing pro anymore.”

The announcement marks the first confirmed roster change for Los Ratones following their elimination. The team’s future remains unclear, as LEC Versus was a special invitational tournament with no guarantee of continuation.

Los Ratones’ Miracle Run Falls Short

The news comes after Los Ratones’ miracle run captivated fans around the world with a classic League of Legends underdog storyline. The team came in with little expectations as an invited European Regional League (ERL) squad competing against 10 established LEC franchises.

The roster started zero to four, with many presuming they would struggle throughout the split. But the team bounced back, taking clutch wins week after week and climbing the standings. Their momentum peaked when they defeated G2 Esports, Europe’s most decorated organization, in a match that drew massive viewership numbers.

However, the dream was not meant to be. Los Ratones faltered on the final day, losing to Team Vitality even after Vitality allowed TheBaus to play his signature champion Sion, which propelled his streaming career years ago.

The defeat was made more heartbreaking by the circumstances. Los Ratones only needed Karmine Corp, Natus Vincere, or Fnatic to beat their opponents on the day to secure a playoff spot. Each team lost. The unlikely scenario came true, and the magical storyline faded.

What’s Next for Los Ratones?

With Los Ratones out of LEC Versus playoffs, the team has exited the tournament. As a team with no franchise slot, they will not be returning to the LEC in its current form.

It is currently unclear what Los Ratones will do next. As it stands, if the team continues its journey, it has a hole in the top lane to fill.

TheBaus is expected to return to full-time streaming and content creation, where he built his reputation with unconventional top lane strategies and high-level solo queue gameplay.
