LPL Star milkyway Rumored to be Permanently Banned From Pro Play
Cai “milkyway” Zi-Jun, a jungler who gained fame early on in his career for getting Rookie of the Split in his very first split in the LPL, has reportedly been permabanned from the Chinese League of Legends league.
FPX has been on a continual decline ever since they won Worlds in 2019, with the organization never quite managing to field a roster that could make a significant impact internationally. Milkyway has been the only bright spot in recent years, with his carry jungle style making him an internationally recognized name.
However, when it really mattered for FPX and they needed wins to have any chance at Worlds qualification, milkyway was suddenly shifted off the roster in favor of other junglers and moved to being inactive during the middle of August 2025.
FPX released a statement defending milkyway and claiming the allegations were false. Nonetheless, they were forced to pull him from active play and investigate the matter further.
And, while it hasn’t yet been confirmed by the league, LPL leaker ChinaGAP claims that he’s been permanently banned for alleged match-fixing and misconduct due to this investigation’s result.
milkyway reportedly banned from LoL pro play forever
The LPL is no stranger to controversy. There have been several large-scale ban waves in LoL’s Chinese competitive scene, both in the LPL and the tier 2 LDL league, that have been related to match fixing.
However, these bans are often associated with players who were stuck in the lower divisions and struggling financially. Players who matchfixed often stood to make much more by purposely throwing matches and betting on them than they did playing professionally, so it’s not exactly uncommon for people to cash in.
With Milkyway allegedly leaking information to bettors during the Demacia Cup in December 2024, leaks suggest that he may be banned from professional play for this and other misconduct.
After he was benched in August 2025, a woman who spoke out against him anonymously claimed that he sexually assaulted her in a hotel. He agreed to meet with her, didn’t want a relationship, and assaulted her, according to her account.

This is a fairly unique case in that milkyway would be the first permanently banned player who gets booted from pro play while playing in a tier 1 league. Matchfixing is much more common in development leagues, and any offenses of this kind in major regions are rare and tend not to be grave enough to warrant a permanent ban.
And, according to prominent LPL leaker Summoner Park on Weibo, the holdup in administrative ruling publicly is because milkyway has filed a police report.
“The league hasn’t issued a statement yet, likely because Milkyway filed a police report,” they explained. “The police will probably investigate whether the online chat logs allegedly showing Milkyway selling draft picks are genuine, but it’s unclear whether an official statement will be issued regarding this. Therefore, even if the league wanted to issue a statement, it wouldn’t be appropriate to do so,” he explained.
This story is ongoing, and it’s not the only LPL scandal currently unfolding. BLG’s team is still under fire after allegedly being spotted in an illegal gambling den, and FPX, the team milkyway plays for, is set to be leaving the LPL alongside RNG come 2026.
