With one month away from the start of MSI, Riot Games drops major details about the first international tournament of the LoL 2024 season.

League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2024 will be taking place in Chengdu, China. From May 1, the top teams from the various regions will be fighting in the Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center to determine the 2024 MSI champion and the first team that will potentially lock a spot at the World Championship (the team must still qualify for their regional Summer playoffs to maintain the spot).
This marks a first in esports history, raising the stakes and prestige of the first international competition. Additionally, MSI will also decide the two regions that will receive an extra seed at Worlds 2024, which is set to hit London later this year.
The tournament will start with a play-in stage featuring eight teams split into two Bo3, double-elimination brackets. The play-in stage will be formed by the second seeds of the LPL, LCK, LCS, and LEC as well as the representatives from the LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS. The top two teams of each bracket will head to the next stage and join the first seeds of the major regions.
The new format will see teams participating in a Bo5 double-elimination bracket, with the two finalists clashing on May 19 for the MSI title. Below is the schedule for the tournament:
The MSI 2024 Draw Show will be held after the LPL Finals on April 20.
