Riot and the possible delayed release of Patch 13.2
The company is having a rough start to the year. After being contested for the lack of quality content for the Season 2023 Cinematic and the recent layoffs of 46 Riot employees, Riot Games have had yet another bad news coming their way.
The company confirmed a “Social Engineering Attack” on its own Twitter official account. Some of the Rioters shared information on the League Reddit, adding how the upcoming patches 13.2 and 13.3 might be delayed as a result of this attack.
Earlier this week, systems in our development environment were compromised via a social engineering attack. We don’t have all the answers right now, but we wanted to communicate early and let you know there is no indication that player data or personal information was obtained.

Gameplay Analyst Ray “RiotRayYonggi” Williams said on the subreddit that “this is a really painful experience for both players and devs, it sucks to potentially not get content out to y’all on time/as expected, especially when the work is done and ready to ship. We have many people across design, engineering, QA, etc assessing what our options are to get players as much of the gameplay-relevant content as possible.
He added, “Micropatching in balance changes, for example, is quite viable. On the other hand, larger adjustments (Annie for example) are much less clear due to implications on tooltips, death recaps, and in-client information that’s usually updated via full server deploys. Just to give an idea of what can be expected generally on the gameplay side.”
Regarding the attack, however, he said that “he can’t go into any specific details and its direct impact for security reasons.”
Heads up, players. This may impact our delivery date for Patch 13.2. The League team is working to stretch the limits of what we can hotfix in order to deliver the majority of the planned and tested balance changes on time still. https://t.co/DJ8qAKSdQi
