With T1 heading to the Worlds 2024 Grand Final, I spoke with jungler Oner and heard him share his thoughts on the series.

Q: Hey Oner, so first things first, what are your overall thoughts on the series, and how would you rate your performance? On a scale from 1 to 100?
It feels really good to overcome our series of defeats against Gen.G so I would like to give myself an 85 out of 100.
Q: Before we talk about the series, I want to quickly go over what was the preparation process like for this match, considering you have played Gen.G many times during this year? Was there anything you worked on in particular following the match against TES?
We noticed that Gen.G prefers AD mids and AP junglers like Nidalee we kind of went and prepared for those kind of picks.
Q: We saw that in Game 2 you picked Kindred. Considering you haven’t played it for more than a year, last time it was in Summer of 2023, can you briefly explain why you decided to go for this pick in this particular series?
We’ve always been preparing the Kindred pick and we were getting picks in combination with Kindred to use it but we kind of had an accident early so we didn’t really get the game going for Kindred so I feel a bit regretful about that.
Q: Now that you’re heading to the Grand Final in London, what do you think will be the key to victory against a team like BLG?
We’ve lost to BLG many times before but we have also beaten them many times so I think keeping our condition at a very high level and having the confidence going into the match is the most important.
Q: What’s your opinion of XUN? Is there anything you would like to tell your opponents?
I think he’s an exceptional jungler since he made to the Worlds final and he wishes them the best. I wish we can both give a good performance for our fans.
Q: So let’s move to a few questions outside of the series. I’m a big fan of culinary videos and I have watched a documentary about T1’s private Chef, Alex Kim, who said you like meat a lot. I have two questions: first, what’s your favorite meat dish, and second, is there any guilty food pleasure you cannot say no to?
I love Kimchi jjigae (Kimchi stew) with meat in it. Once you get hooked down to it, you can’t really stop.
Q: Last time I talked to you at MSI – you said you learned to take care of yourself. Is there anything new you have learned at this Worlds?
There isn’t really anything new in particular but we just play so many games so mentally and physically we’re getting the upgrades we need through the games.
Q: Is this the first time you come to France? What do you think of the French fans who came to cheer you guys?
I was really surprised at the level of their passion and their cheering so I’m always holding that close to my heart. With the love we got from the French fans, we hope to move to London and perform well.
