After their hard-fought series against Gen.G in the bracket stage of MSI, I sat down with TES JackeyLove in a post-match interview.

TES JackeyLove – “There were still chances to win against them”
The interview was done in Chinese and then translated into English.
Hello everyone, this is Davide from Esports.net, and this is our interview with TES JackeyLove. First of all, it’s unfortunate that you weren’t able to get the win today. I would like to ask you your initial thoughts on today’s result.
I feel that there were some areas where we could have performed better than the opposing team and that there were still chances to win against them. We’ll make some adjustments and come back to win.
Was the series very different from what you were expecting initially?
Actually, no. I felt that we could have won today, but in the last match, we weren’t able to fully implement our own ideas.
Let’s talk about the game. In the first game, it seemed like TES wanted to play your own comfort picks to get into a groove, can we put it that way?
Not really, I just feel that we were strong in skirmishes with our first team comp, but it became difficult because we weren’t able to contain the enemy mid laner’s scaling.
What were the main adjustments between the first and second games?
I feel like in this BO5 series, it was crucial for mid laners to either pick very strong skirmishers or scaling champions – Corki turned out to be quite important.
You still managed to even the score with the third and fourth games. There was a spectacular 1v3 by the player Creme in the third game. What was the team’s reaction?
It was very well played, and we felt like there was a chance [to win], and we just continued playing.
In the fifth game, the enemy team decided to go for Nidalee to answer your Sejuani. Did you expect it?
I think their lineup was centered toward an all-in on the early game. We thought we could have done well and earned some advantage but we weren’t able to close out the game and the fights didn’t turn out that well.
What are some of the good takeaways from this game that can be used to prepare for the upcoming matches?
Today I felt like the bot lane matchups are not as important anymore; perhaps choosing the right picks for mid, top, and jungle might be more important.
Regarding the meta, everyone has talked about lane swaps, what’s your view on the matter?
Lane swaps are something you try if you’re not in a good position to play the laning phase. Since some heroes get stronger after surviving the early game, the lane swap helps them get through it more smoothly.
Finally, a question from the fans. Do you have the habit of listening to music before a match? Can you share any recent songs or favorite artists?
Actually, I do not listen to music before matches. Recently, I don’t really have any good songs to recommend.
Is there anything you would like to say to your supportive fans, if possible in English?
It’s not that I don’t want to, but I really can’t [chuckles]. I just hope our team will go back, identify our issues, and we will work harder in practice and in our games. We will win in the end.
Thank you JackeyLove for your time and good luck on your future game.
TES will now face the loser between T1 and BLG in the upper bracket on Tuesday, May 14.
