Top five most played champions in LCS Summer 2024

The 2024 League Championship Series (LCS) has almost concluded its Summer regular season, marking a return to best-of-threes for the first time since 2017. Various champions have been played in the LCS Summer Split thus far, but who are the most played?

These five champions have dominated the LCS Summer Split

Given the new format’s potential for more games, over 70 champions have been played in the 2024 LCS Summer Split, which is expected. At the same time, there are still your comfort champions that the best LoL players like to resort back to from time to time. There have been some unique picks not seen in North America in a while.

Darius was picked just this past weekend, a champion that has hardly seen action in North America since he was popular in 2015. Let’s explore the five most-played champions thus far in the 2024 LCS Summer Split.

Corki

Not a year has gone by since Corki’s name was not on one of these lists. Even when removing his Package, Corki is still seen as one of the strongest champions in the game. Corki is the most-played champion in the LCS Summer Split with 31 picks. He has a presence of 82% and has only been banned six times.

He’s not a champion deemed necessary for banning, but he features heavily in almost every best-of-three. As mentioned before, there are comfort champions that players resort back to, and the LCS is no different. With the mid lane meta currently favoring ADC’s, Corki fits right in and is seen as a good counter to some of these marksmen currently being played in the lane.

Leona

Leona is the only support champion on this list, with 27 picks to her name, significantly more than any other support champion currently playing in the LCS, which is Nautilus, with 15 games played. Barrier is all the rage right now in competitive League of Legends. It’s a very strong laning summoner spell, but Leona easily counters it. Leona has hard engage with her ultimate, and if she hits an ADC with it, they will die even through Barrier. Therefore, picking Leona will force ADCs to take cleanse as opposed to Barrier, making the lane easier for your ADC.

Leona boasts the second-highest presence percentage in the league at 87; only Ashe has more at 93. As with Corki, Leona does not have a positive win rate in the LCS, but this can be put down to how much she is played, which is practically every best-of-three during the regular season this far.

K’Sante

K’Sante is easily becoming one of the more disliked champions in pro League of Legends. The top lane tank has a presence like no other, with over an 80 percent presence rate at the Mid-Season Invitational; K’Sante continues to dominate the competitive League of Legends.

The LCS is no different; K’Sante is the third most-played champion in the Summer Split thus far, with 24 games under his belt. Like Corki, K’Sante is a comfort champion for many. When you need to blind pick your top laner, you go with K’Sante. He ticks all the boxes needed to be a good weakside champion, and teams will often handshake on one having Renekton and the other having K’Sante. K’Sante has the worst win rate of any champion on this list at 33%; sometimes comfort isn’t the best method for winning the game.

Tristana

ADCs’ in the mid lane have been a heavy feature this meta, not just in the LCS but globally with many leagues adopting to this new style of LoL. Like Corki, Tristana dominates the number of games she has featured in, with 19 games. Teams will often trade Corki and Tristana, with this being the most frequent ranged vs ranged match-up. Tristana is an amazing champion for accelerating the game. She is great at doing it as an ADC, but even better as a mid laner with more levels and items under her belt.

Ezreal

Having an Ezreal in the meta is always exciting, it invites players to be more aggressive as they need to land their skill shots in order to be useful. Ezreal originally was seen as an option in the mid lane, but that quickly died down this split and now features heavily in the bottom lane with 17 games. Ezreal is the first champion on this list to have a positive win rate of 53%. The ADC is an excellent laner, and most of the top players in the league are picking him up.
