With Worlds starting this month, here is everything you need to know about the official song for the 2023 LoL Worlds.

LoL Worlds 2023 song – Who is singing?

For nearly a decade, the LoL World Championship has had an official theme song. They tackled different genres and collaborated with various artists, including popular singers like G-IDLE and Lil Nas X, with many of them becoming legendary anthems that people listen to on loop, myself included.

This year, Worlds will be heading back to South Korea for the first time since 2018, when Riot Games created the legendary music group K/DA with G-IDLE’s Soyeon and Miyeon, as well as Madison Beer e Jaira Burns. The song Popstars became an instant hit, as Riot managed to break into the K-pop genre.

The LoL 2023 Worlds Song is performed by K-pop group NewJeans and it was officially released on October 4. You can listen to the song below:

Who are NewJeans?

NewJeans is a South Korean girl group formed by the entertainment company ADOR and it’s composed of five members: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. They debuted in 2022 with the single “Attention”, but the songs that allowed them to really gain popularity and become the new rising stars were “Ditto”, “OMG”, and “Super Shy”. NewJeans’ music is close to 1990s- and 2000s-indebted pop and R&B and it’s “soft, contained, and delicate”, according to critic Minsoo Joshua Kim.

“It was a new experience for us,” the five NewJeans members said before the release. “It was fun to try a new genre and sound. Through this collaboration, we are happy to present a song that incorporates both NewJeans’ and League of Legends’ unique colors. We hope it brings you a new sense of empowerment!” they added.

Aside from them, we might also get other artists included. Back in the middle of August, Riot Games Music’s Twitter account showed K-pop group ATEEZ visiting the Riot HQ, potentially hinting at a possible collaboration with them.

Who are ATEEZ?

ATEEZ is a male K-pop group that debuted in 2018, and it consists of eight members: Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho. They have gained increasing popularity over the past few years, releasing a total of 10 EPs, one studio album, and one single album. Their music has a distinctive style that comprises many different genres, ranging from Trap, EDM, Rap, R&B, and much more.
