Lotus – New Valorant Map in Episode 6
With Valorant’s current episode reaching its final days, the devs have given information on the new and upcoming Episode 6 – REVELATION.
Kicking off on January 10th, Revelation is going to be packed with goodies, the return of fan favorites and a new map. In Patch 6.0, launching next week, Split will make its return to the Competitive queue with a few adjustments made to it. The changes to Split will effectively shift the way players utilize their strategies both as defenders and attackers.
With that and many other stuff that’s coming in Episode 6: Revelation, what the community is most excited about is the newest map!
Valorant’s City of Flowers : Lotus
The ninth Valorant map, Lotus, is finally coming to the game. Aside from Haven, Lotus is the only other three-site map featured in Valorant. Level designer Joe Lansford described the map to have a “high flexibility and movement for both sides”. Even though Lotus features more territory to control, it also offers more opportunities for aggressive pushes and action.
What makes Lotus much more interesting are the new map mechanics. In its reveal we can see multiple examples of rotating doors and destructible walls which we haven’t seen before. In addition, a so-called silent drop is also introduced in the new map that’s launching with Episode 6: Revelation.
Much like Breeze, Lotus is a map full of vibrant colors and beautiful landscape. Its scenery can be described as an “ancient temple”, and Brian Yam at Riot said that the design was greatly inspired by Indiana Jones. While the initial idea for the map was a space station with “an airlock mechanic” , we’re still thrilled to see what the team ended up with.
It will be interesting to watch how players adjust to Lotus and the new mechanic it offers.
