Marvel Rivals Kingsman Drama Explained: Huge Tournament Controversy with Harassment Claims

Remember when Creator Cups were supposed to be fun? The Marvel Rivals community does.

The community for the hero shooter has been taken by storm, following an incident in which Kingsman, a controller streamer, was kicked from his team in the $40k Deadpool Creator Cup organised by BasimZB, with the rest of his team citing sexism and harassment for the kicking.

The controversy has blown up to such a degree that it has extended past the Marvel Rivals community, with NBA teams like the Atlanta Hawks even posting about it.

Kingsman Kicked for Asking Teammate to Switch Heroes

The drama began when Kingsman, who was playing the melee hero Magik, asked his teammate Zazzastack to swap off Black Widow.  This was because Zazza was playing on high ping and struggling with a 0/5 KD, whilst Kingsman was popping off at 18/6.

Kingsman even offered to swap characters himself, aiming for a complete team comp change, as he thought triple support would help them win and that he could swap to Bucky or Mantis to aid that.

In response to this, Zazza said that the hero changes suggested were outside of her hero pool — which is reasonable to point out — but their teammate Cece snapped, defending Zazza to a point that the situation escalated beyond repair.

Following this, Zazza’s boyfriend, Kaplunkk, gathered clips of the incident and sent them to the tournament organizers, hoping to expose Kingsman for his toxicity. Zazza said this was done without her knowledge in a very long tweet, but a clip later surfaced of her talking about the process of Kaplunkk making the document.

After Kingsman was kicked, the remainder of the team mocked him, calling him a “loser.” This was something that Cece later apologised for, but then doubled down on in TikTok comments and in Discord servers. Cece doing so prompted Kingsman to release a Google Doc of his own, exposing Cece for bullying him and attempting to isolate him from the Marvel Rivals community.

Kingsman Gets Huge Gifts & Organizer Admits Wrongdoing

The aftermath of the incident has gone multiple ways. Zazza has received abuse for her actions and gameplay, with players even using her name as a new slang term for playing badly. Kingsman went on to have an incredibly successful follow-up stream in which he gained 10,000 new subs, received in-game credit from Marvel Rivals developer NetEase, and received an apology from the organizer.

“They’re absolutely right, 100 per cent, no question about it,” BasimZB said of the people criticising him for being too quick to remove Kingsman. “There’s no beating around the bush. I don’t know why it’s difficult to admit when you’re wrong and when you fucked up. I made a decision based off of haste and based off misinformation.”

As for Cece, the fallout has been the worst of all for her. She was dropped by SOLARIS’ creator program and by InfinityMice, with both companies saying her behaviour during the event is “not something they support.”

In addition to this, InfinityMice also said they are trying to reach out to Kingsman to offer him peripherals instead.
