In an initiative to increase the prize pool of their upcoming tournament, Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series 2025, Krafton India has announced a new BGMI event known as Play For A Cause. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming event and its impact.

In the past, we have seen many games try unique methods to increase funding for their esports ecosystem.

A classic example of this is Riot Games. Each year, in their FPS title VALORANT, they introduce a “VALORANT Champions” skin bundle. A part of the profits made from the community’s purchases of the skins is shared with the teams within the VALORANT Champions Tour. Last year, Riot Games provided VCT teams over $44 million through the VALORANT Champions 2024 skin bundle.

It does seem like BGMI is finally trying a feature like this to help its esports ecosystem. In the upcoming BGMI 3.8 Update, the game announced a new event known as Play For A Cause.

Within this, Krafton India has introduced Discovery Island. In this event, players will be able to receive exploration points by just playing matches within the Classic Mode. This event is slated to take place from May 17 until July 1, 2025.

Using these exploration points, players can unlock up to 30 new exclusive items, including a one-of-a-kind BGMI Esports Outfit. Similar to other community-based events, a collective reward is available for the entire player base. The primary goal of this event is to double the current amount for the prize pool of BMPS 2025.

Fans can complete six collective milestones within the Play For A Cause event. These milestones can be reached by the total number of exploration points fans collect until July 1. If the BGMI community reaches the final milestone, Krafton India will add another $233,740 to the upcoming BMPS 2025 tournament’s prize pool.

BMPS 2025 is slated to begin on May 22nd. The top 96 teams in India have been invited to this tournament. The top 16 teams during this event will secure their spot in the LAN grand finals scheduled to take place in Delhi in July. Recently, there have been reports that the winners of BMPS 2025 might receive a spot in the upcoming PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025.
