Brawl Stars Delivers Much-Awaited Sushi Meter Rewards After Major Bug Fix

On May 2, 2025, Brawl Stars announced there’s a serious bug with the “Sushi Meter” rewards in their ongoing Battle for Katana Kingdom event, which actually started on May 1. Players have been grinding Sushi Rolls to hit milestones – 25, 100, 150 and 200 rolls. However, some aren’t getting the rewards they should despite hitting those totals. Users have even posted a screenshot showing 200/200 Sushi Rolls with nothing unlocked.

What the Battle for Katana Kingdom Event Includes

The Battle for Katana Kingdom is a four-week fest celebrating Japanese-inspired content. Collect enough Sushi Rolls and you unlock:

  • Oni Kenji Hypercharge Skin (at 200 rolls)
  • Cursed Kenji, Wanderer Gray, Shukuteki Tara (from 120 rolls, if you own the relevant brawlers)
  • Wasabi Warrior Title

Plus there’s new Wasabi Powers, a fresh brawler named Jae-Yong, and game modes like Samurai Smash. You’re encouraged to log in daily for Daily Wins, Oni Hunt quests, or special shop offers. There’s also a Brawl Pass Plus you can buy for a 30% XP boost, all noted in the original event post from May 1.

How Big Is the Brawl Stars Sushi Meter Bug Problem?

It’s a big deal, especially for players who spent real money. Some have commented they had dropped £100 on passes or Sushi Rolls but didn’t get any of the stuff they’d earned. As expected, players also want compensation ranging from 2 to 200 Sushi Rolls. Under the same post, players have flagged another bug where sprays overlap, which hints that the whole update might be unstable.

Some say it might be server overload when big events like this drop. Others suspect a coding glitch in the Sushi Meter reward triggers.

Update: New Patch Fix Details & Claim Instructions

After a few days of patch delays, the team finally acknowledged the issues in an X post today (May 5). Here’s what they’re fixing—and how we’ll get our stuff:

Fixes Underway:

  • Sushi Meter rewards not being delivered
  • Pam’s Wasabi Power failing on certain skins
  • Gadgets from Sushi drops appearing with the Wasabi Power animation

How We’ll Claim Rewards

Simply relaunch the game to receive the 25 Gems plus Cursed Kenji and Oni Kenji skins automatically

Open the Sushi Meter in the event tab to manually claim Credits or the Epic Brawler reward. If you forget by event’s end, those Credits will land in your inbox

The 25 Gems you see dropping into your account aren’t an extra “bonus” on top of what was already promised—they’re simply the 25-roll milestone reward that never arrived in the first place. In other words, they’re being delivered now to make up for the fact you hit 25 Sushi Rolls back on May 1 but didn’t get your Gems until today’s patch.

For a live-service game running big events, these hiccups underscore how important it is to catch bugs quickly and keep player trust-especially when cash is involved and community hype is high. This also reminds of the recent Pizza Planet event bug that caused major compensation delays and required a rework of Brawl Stars’ reward delivery system.
