Honor of Kings global release date and Invitational S2 venue announced

Honor of Kings is one of the most anticipated mobile games of 2024. While the game hasn’t been released yet, Level Infinite, the game’s publisher, has made it clear that they want to project the title into a major esports game. Today, the publisher announced two major details about Honor of Kings: the global release date and the venue for the Invitational Season 2.

Honor of Kings heads to global release on June 20

The Honor of Kings global release date is finally here, and it’s June 20.

Level Infinite has opened pre-registrations for the game on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and also through email on the official website. Players who pre-register will receive a free hero (Ying) and also a free skin (Crimson Tassel Ying). Additionally, there will be different rewards at pre-registration milestones including Diamonds, Fragments, and Hero Trial Cards.

Honor of Kings is one of the most popular games in China with a very evolved esports scene. With the global release, Level Infinite is trying to replicate the game’s success globally. Unsurprisingly, esports is a big part of the company’s marketing strategy. It has already committed $15 million in 2024 as global esports investment with four international tournaments.

Additionally, the game is part of Level Infinite’s partnership with the Esports World Cup Foundation. As a part of this, the game will be a part of the Esports World Cup for the next three years and also host more than a thousand grassroots-level events globally.

So far, one of the first international Honor of Kings events, the Honor of Kings Invitational S1 has wrapped up in Turkey. This will be followed by Season 2 of the Invitational.

The second season of the Invitational is set to happen in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The tournament will have a prize pool of $300,000 and will begin on June 29, just after the Honor of Kings global release date.

Taking the tournament to Malaysia is a good decision for the game. This is because SEA is a major market for mobile games. It’s currently dominated by MLBB while Arena of Valor has a commanding audience in select countries like Vietnam.
