Within the Indian esports ecosystem, one team has proven why it’s considered one of the best organizations in the region: iQOO Soul. At the start of the year, they announced their new roster in BGMI, consisting of the core of Team Blind’s dominant 2023 roster. This year, they finished in the top 4 in multiple events but couldn’t secure the trophy they longed for. Before this even Rudra “Spower” B had left iQOO Soul to join Carnival Gaming.

In our Grand Finals Day 2 article, we predicted that the first match would be a brawl fest. That prediction came true, as ten players were already eliminated within the game’s first three minutes. Reckoning Esports ended that game on a rampage, securing 11 finish points to their name. But Team Tamilas secured their third chicken dinner during game 9 of the grand finals of BGMS 2024.

The last two games of the tournament felt like a movie due to all the storylines present within it. Going into the game, there was a 16 points difference between Soul and Carnival. The last two teams that were left were Soul and Godlike. It was a 1v2 situation for Jonathan. He did secure one knock but couldn’t seal the deal, leading to iQOO Soul securing the chicken dinner. This meant that Carnival Gaming and iQOO Soul would be in first position level on points with 113.

The Last Match Was A Rollercoaster Of Emotions

Four teams had over 100 points going into this game. The game began on the map of Erangel, and all hell broke loose. By the time the powerplay phase ended, Orangutan Esports had secured 20 finish points. In this process, they lost three of their teammates to iQOO Soul, with Ankit “AKop” Shukla left until the very end.

Similarly, Entity Gaming was on a killing spree to secure as many finishes as possible during the powerplay phase. There was a point in the match where Carnival Gaming lost one team member after another to Entity. It reached a point where the players from Carnival Gaming were trying to run away from them, but Entity Esports weren’t leaving their trail. This sadly resulted in Carnival Gaming getting knocked out with zero points.

Towards the last moments of the match, iQOO Soul and Entity were the front runners. While Entity tried to secure as many finishes as possible, Soul, with the lead, played the game of the healing battle. Team XSpark, in a heartbreaking moment, eliminated Entity, securing the final chicken dinner in their name and resulting in Soul lifting the trophy.

One point to note is that the players of Soul were part of Global Esports in 2022 during Season 1 of BGMS. During that event, Global Esports won the trophy. Thus, this BGMS 2024 victory is the second time that the team consisting of Mohammad “Manya” Raja, Khush “Jokerr” Singh, Nakul “NakuL” Sharma, and Manpreet “Rony” Singh has won the BGMS trophy. It will be quite interesting to take a look back at this team from their rookie season and wonder if they already are a dynasty with BGMI.
