When was Candy Crush first released?
Candy Crush Saga was released by King on April 12, 2012.
Despite being now known as one of the best mobile puzzle games in the world, it actually started as a Facebook game and quickly took off with the Facebook Gaming crowd. It’s pretty easy to see why: it had poppy visuals and simple gameplay that were perfect for gamers who didn’t want to lock in for a 150 hour RPG campaign.
Its social aspects made it spread like wildfire, eventually breaking away from just being a Facebook Game.
After its Facebook success, Candy Crush expanded to mobile platforms. Heading to the iOS App Store and Google Play Store for Android in November 2012, it became super convenient for players to enjoy the game anytime, anywhere, and start grinding away at the various levels.
When did Candy Crush go to PC?
While its known as a mobile game, it’s also playable on Windows, with even more levels than the mobile version. So wherever you are and with whatever kind of device, you can get your Candy Crush fix. Windows got access to King’s magnum opus as early as July 29th 2015. It was easy enough to port from a web app to a standalone title, which is why it ended up on Windows first, albeit to smaller fanfare.
Its impressive to see how far a simple Facebook game has come. From originally releasing in April of 2012, it now entertains millions with frequent updates on multiple platforms, spawning a host of games like Candy Crush that have also found their own successes.
