ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League Format

Seven SE Asia teams have been invited and three more slots open through two qualifiers. Teams from various countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and even South Korea, have all prepared to compete among themselves.

Teams will compete in a Single Round-robin Group Stage in the Bo2 format. The Playoffs. as per usual will feature a double-elimination best-of-three bracket, with the finals being best-of-five.

Qualifiers and Participating Teams

The following invitees have been confirmed for the main event: Fnatic, TNC Predator, Team Adroit, BOOM Esports, Geek Fam, Reality Rift and T1.

Two qualifiers are held starting June 4th and June 6th.

The first qualifier featured a whopping 83 participating teams. Execration, Flower Gaming, LGD International and PG Barracx reached the semifinal and are now fighting for their last WIN. If they win their entry into the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League is guaranteed. If you manage to find a niche market offering Dota 2 odds for the qualifiers, LGD International is a solid singles choice. (Learn how to bet on Dota 2)

The second qualifier will follow a day after the first. We expect most of the teams that didn’t make it the first time around give it a second attempt. The number of participants might even increase on the 2nd go around.

Lets move on to the main stars of the show.

Fourth times’ the charm!

Celebrated as SEA’s strongest team, the must-invite team Fnatic is here to raise the bar for every participating team. After racking up 4 consecutive championship titles since March 2020, Fnatic is no doubt, the biggest threat in the sea.

Their first victory occurred at DOTA Summit 12, after shutting down OG.Seed who had an unbreakable winning streak. The Summit 12 was the last LAN tournament that Fnatic played at. However, they left a bitter aftertaste to many teams including Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid whom they defeated with ease.

Ever since, SEA regional tournaments were a breeze for the Fnatic roster as they stomped every grand final. Other titles include both ESL One events, the Los Angeles 2020, and most recently, the Birmingham 2020 as well. If there’s one team you can place a outright bet at, it’s certainly Fnatic. Outrights are available over at these esports betting sites.

Fallen Champions

Renowned across the world, TNC Predator has had its share of epic moments over the years. From upsetting International favorites, team OG, not once but twice in two International events. Fast forward to 2K19, TNC Predator had their roster shuffle, bringing in foreign talents such as kpii and March from Australia and South Korea respectively.

The freshly-reformed team glimmered with hype and expectations from fans. And they delivered big at their first debut of the season. It was TNC Predator’s first major win over the decade! With the championship title, TNC Predator owned the first rank at the DPC leaderboards. Unfortunately, these past achievements do not reflect their current performance. The boys could not even secure the top 3 finish in the recent tournaments they participated in. Perhaps every cloud has a silver lining. ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League may just be TNC’s ground to prove their worth!

And finally, do not underestimate..

The Underdogs, from the trench!

If history has taught us anything, it’s that people love a memorable upset (unless you bet on a losing team, of course). As quoted from Kuroky, “underdog teams are the most fearsome of all because they have nothing to lose”.

One team that comes into mind is Team Adroit, who once played major qualifiers in a humble internet café. Yet, despite the harsh conditions they played in, they came out on top and earned their ticket to ESL Los Angeles 2020 major. These days, Team Adroit has become a familiar face in the list of prominent SEA teams.

All the way from Indonesia, BOOM Esports is another team that recently makes it into the headlines. After playing the ESL Birmingham 2020’s grand finals versus Fnatic, BOOM Esports has certainly earned their fans’ love.

All of the action at the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League will be streamed live at ONE Esports’ Twitch channel.
