Registration Open for Online Soldier Showdown II – fun in triplicate!
Online Soldier Showdown II is now officially taking in sign-ups. Registration for the triple-threat event began at 2PM CST Feb 26, 2021.
This event is all about Army individuals and small teams competing in three scheduled events in Fortnite singles, Rocket League 1v1, and CoD Warzone 3v3. There are plenty of opportunities for skilled players to show off their best plays – assuming they can make it through the three-week qualifying tournaments.
It’s not for nothing though – there are also prizes to win. Rather than a regular money prize, players have a chance to win a next-gen console (whether Xbox or PS5 is up to the winner!), a Complexity merch pack, and a 2-hour virtual gaming session with some of Complexity’s players!
Online Soldier Showdown II Schedule & Competitions
Each of the three tournaments has its own set of details. The competition will run between March and May, with each month featuring a single esports title being played.
For Fortnite, the tournament qualifiers are happening on March 13th, 20th, and 27th. The finale will be streamed on April 3rd.
The week after, the Rocket League qualifiers start – the three weekly events are happening on April 10th, 17th, and 24th. The finals will take place on May 1st.
Finally, the CoD WarZone event qualifiers are happening on May 8th, 15th, and 22nd. and the finals on June 5th.
Unsurprising, given the prizes, Complexity is one of the sponsors of the event. Both the US Army and US Army MWR are sponsoring the events and it is open to any Active Duty Soldiers, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, & Active Duty Military stationed on Army Joint Bases. You don’t to be within the US – anywhere around the world will do.
The event is happening as part of the extended partnership between Complexity gaming and the US Army MWR. Short for Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, it’s obviously not the military itself, but rather a recreational branch that tasks itself with providing entertainment for active-duty military.
The tournament will be cross-platform – and whatever your preferred way of playing CoD/WarZone/Fortnite is, you can play whatever way you feel most comfortable! In other words – no excuse, soldier!
If you want to join up in the tournament, don’t hesitate to do so – you can even sign up for more than one of the three if you want to try your chances in each of the three games. Head over to armymwr.com/esports to sign up.
