How can G2 get back on top?

Being one of the biggest brands in all of esports and having some of the best CS2 players in the world on their roster, G2 is expected to contend for trophies in every event they attend. While they have made the playoffs of every tournament they played in CS2, they have no titles or even a Grand Final appearance to show for it.
That fact is even more surprising, considering their star boy m0NESY has been in 2018 s1mple-esque form in recent months, single-handedly pulling G2 over the line in multiple high-profile games, while his teammates did everything in their power to exit the tournament as early as possible.
It doesn’t help that NiKo isn’t the best rifler in the world anymore and huNter- has fallen off a cliff since the beginning of CS2, with nexa replacing jks being the cherry on the top of G2’s unfortunate tasting cake. But how do G2 fix their issues and return to championship glory?
Removing nexa

Removing nexa and getting a better anchor is perhaps the simplest way to improve the team with no real adjustment time. The Serb hasn’t been bad per se, but he was an objective downgrade from jks and there are plenty of capable young talents to choose from in his positions.
The first name that springs to mind is the 17-year-old multi-kill machine that is Jimmphat. However, taking into account G2’s and MOUZ’s current trajectories, buying the Finn out of his contract would probably cost an arm and a leg. The two more realistic candidates, who’d fit into G2 like a glove are Perfecto and sjuush.
The former recently benched himself on Cloud9 and is easily one of the highest-quality options on the market, while sjuush’s Heroic has been on a downward spiral since the Major and could look to shake up their roster soon. In addition, both players have fellow countrymen already on the team – m0NESY for Perfecto and Hooxi for sjuush, so their acclimatization shouldn’t be an issue.
New Coach
At first glance, TaZ seemed like the perfect fit for G2’s head coach – an experienced Major winner capable of commanding authority with a fun and outgoing personality. However, his four-month tenure with the team has been rather lacklustre, with the international squad’s results, playstyle, and atmosphere being relatively the same as before his arrival.
Of course, it’s very difficult to assess how much impact a coach has on a team because no one apart from the players themselves knows what they actually do. But it’s still safe to say that G2 should consider other coaching options, with sAw at the top of their list.
As previously mentioned, Heroic are in a bit of a rut right now, so getting players out of the Danish organization shouldn’t be that difficult. Still, sAw is highly regarded by all his peers, mainly due to his successful stint with ENCE, where he took unknown players to the upper echelons of Counter-Strike and stayed there for several months.

Change of Leadership
Hooxi has faced a ton of criticism during his tenure with G2, both for his calling and individual performance. While some of that criticism was warranted, he isn’t as bad as some people are making him out to be. However, if the G2 players have lost trust in Hooxi’s calling and don’t think he’s good enough to lead the team, they should get another IGL in his place.
The two most attractive options in my mind are kyxsan and gla1ve. Both Heroic and ENCE are in a bad place right now, but both kyxsan and especially gla1ve have shown great capabilities of leading a team to the top of the Counter-Strike pyramid.
