How to Master Lifeweaver in Overwatch 2: Easy 3-step Guide
Overwatch recently made Lifeweaver accessible to the entire player base. This support hero has a high skill ceiling and is best utilized by players with some amount of experience under their belts.
While it’s hard to say how Lifeweaver will fit into the competitive meta, he does offer a new approach to the game in quick play.
If you’re committed to playing Lifeweaver and taking full advantage of his plant-based abilities, here are some tactics that you deploy.
Do not use Lifeweaver as your main healer
Bear this in mind before starting a game: Lifeweaver is not meant to be the primary healer on your team. Think of him as a regular character with some healing abilities that can be used well once you’ve figured out a playstyle to suit his abilities.
Stat for stat, his healing ability is low compared to the other healers in the game – his Healing Blossom only provides 65 healing points per shot when charged up to max power. In contrast, characters like Baptiste are much better options if you’re playing a pure healing game.
Use Lifeweaver’s Life Grip
If you master positioning with Lifeweaver, there are plenty of different game styles that you can explore. The Life Grip ability allows you to pull a teammate towards yourself while also providing them temporary immunity. This is especially useful when a teammate makes a blind charge too deep into enemy territory and needs a reset. If used properly, Life Grip can be a well-timed saving ability like Kiriko’s Protection Suzu and Baptiste’s Immortality Field.
On the flip side, Life Grip can also backfire if you aim it incorrectly, like if you point it at a teammate just as they are about to execute their ultimate.

Like other support heroes, Lifeweaver is able to deal with damage while also providing healing and utility functions. He has a rapid-fire alt weapon called Thorn Volley. While it won’t be extremely effective against fast-moving or flying heroes, it can put a decent amount of damage on opponents. To efficiently use Lifeweaver, remember to deploy his utility to help damage heroes and tanks. Just remember that you cannot heal and play offense at the same time – so tonight might be everything.

Stay at Range
Lifeweaver performs best when used behind the backline as a healer of the offense. You can get the most out of your Life Grip ability by staying out of the line of fire and pulling your teammates back to safety. You can also get the most out of your passive ability called Parting Gift at this range, which will drop a healing flower when he dies.
The Parting Gift could be crucial in helping your teammates heal up, even when you’re taken out of action. As a bonus, you can use the Rejuvenating Dash to get out of trouble and heal yourself.
The Tree of Life
Using this ultimate ability will place a healing tree wherever you chase. Teammates within range of the Healing Tree get a strong burst of healing in addition to eight smaller healing pulses before the tree disappears. The catch is that the Tree of Life also acts as a cover, functioning as a temporary shield from enemy fire. You could even drop the Tree of Life in front of the enemy spawn site, and they would be stuck there for as long as the tree stays active.
