Exploring how many Pokémon in Pokémon GO right now
How many Pokémon in Pokémon GO? The number continues to grow as Niantic adds more and more to the hit game. It is by far the most expansive Pokédex in the entire franchise as it has Pokémon from every region. Most games have a few hundred available in them. For example, Scarlet and Violet had 400 in it but GO has more than double that number.
Recently, a few Hisuian Pokémon were added to the game. Ursaluna debuted during the recent Teddiursa Community Day last year. Kleavor was just involved in a special Raid Day. Others, such as Overqwil, have been in for a little while. Most regions are fully explored, but a few have a ways to go. Galar and Alola in particular have very few entries, even with Cutiefly’s recent addition. There are still Pokémon from a majority of regions that aren’t in GO.
Exactly how many Pokémon in Pokémon GO
Currently, there are 904 in Pokémon GO. Within the app, the game has its own Pokédex. It counts all the Pokémon in the game, even the ones that players can’t get because they don’t spawn or because they’re regional. The current high number in the game is 904, which means there are still about 100 or so that are yet to be added. Eventually, Niantic would like to have them all, but as of now, it’s still a work in progress. As the mainline franchise continues to grow, it will get harder and harder for GO to catch up, but they’ll likely never stop working at it.

Could Paradox Pokémon come to Pokémon GO?
Naturally, the Paradox Pokémon from Generation IX are not present, either. It’s unclear how Niantic will move forward with them. Given that it was somewhat of a unique gimmick to Scarlet and Violet and that they are basically past and future versions of existing creatures, it may be a challenge. Nevertheless, these may also come to the game one day:
- Walking Wake
- Iron Leaves
- Iron Valiant
- Roaring Moon
- Iron Thorns
- Iron Moth
- Sandy Shocks
- Iron Treads
- Iron Hands
- Flutter Mane
- Iron Jugulis
- Iron Bundle
- Slither Wing
- Brute Bonnet
- Scream Tail
- Great Tusk

Iron Thorns from Scarlet and Violet isn’t in GO
Finally, if Niantic does proceed with introducing every single creature, then the question of how many Pokémon in Pokémon GO may never be answered. As of now, it’s slightly over 900 but with plenty of room to grow. When that will happen is anyone’s guess. Niantic likes to take their time on these things. It may be a while before they arrive. This does give them the chance to organically extend the game’s shelf life, though.
