How to log out of Pokémon GO
Once you’re in the app, press the Pokéball in the middle of the screen at the bottom. This will bring up all the options, including Pokémon, Shop, Pokédex, Items and Battle. On the top right corner of the screen, there are three options. One is for Settings, another News and the final one is for Events. You will want to select Settings for this one.
Once there, you will see a lot of different options. You can change the volume level, turn the vibration on and off, find account details, turn on augmented reality and so much more. Ignore the plethora of options and scroll to the bottom, though.
Underneath the section that says About and Version (with a description of which version it is), there is a button that says to Sign Out. Click that if you want to log out of Pokémon GO. It will say, “Are you sure you want to sign out?” and give you a Yes and a No option. As long as you do want to sign out, you can click Yes to proceed. This will effectively restart the app.
Logging back in to Pokémon GO
Once this happens, you have several options to proceed. You can click to log back in as a returning player or create a new account under “New Player”. If you’re logging into your account or another, click Returning Player. This will offer you several sign in options. Depending on which account you made when you first began playing the game, select one of the following options:
- Continue with Apple
- Sign in with Facebook
- Sign in with Google
- Pokémon Trainer Club
- Niantic Kids

From there, you can log in with your credentials. If you’re using Google, it will likely remember your username and password and you can simply click on the right account to log in from there. There is also an option to return to the main screen or to click if you can’t sign in. This may be useful if you’ve forgotten a username or password.

Creating a new account
If you want to create a brand new account, you can do that, too. From the main screen, click “New Player”. This will bring you four options for setting up a new account:
- Continue with Apple
- Create account with Facebook
- Create account with Google
- Pokémon Trainer Club
Whichever option you choose, you can link an account to your Pokémon GO and make a profile. From there, you can catch a starter and begin exploring the world, hunting for shinies, catching them all and battling it out in gyms.
