Since the game is restricted geographically, many players want to know how to spoof in Pokémon GO. Spoofing is the art of changing one’s location so that they can play the game there. For example, if a player is sitting at home with nary a Pokémon or Pokéstop in the nearby area, they may want to spoof to Times Square, where there are hundreds of each and everything is easily accessible.
Additionally, many trainers like to spoof to get regionals. Tauros is only available in North America. Hawlucha is restricted to Mexico. Mr Mime is only available in Europe. If you know there’s a nest of Psyducks in Russia, you may want to change your coordinates to check all of them and potentially get one. Finally, time zones play a key role in spoofing. If you missed a spotlight hour or an event, you can spoof to a time zone where the event is still happening. Here’s how to do that.

The way to spoof is to change the device’s location. This cannot be done in settings or anything like that. Even if location services are off, they can’t be changed to somewhere else. The game only allows you to play where the device is located. To spoof around this, you’ll need an application or a service. iPoGo is one of the most prominent spoofing apps out there. It does cost money, but it allows players to go wherever they want and provides them with a joystick so their avatar can walk around and explore without them having to get up off the couch.

Many of these work for other apps or have other purposes, but they will work for spoofing in Pokémon. Simply search them out, find the website or download the app and follow the instructions for there. It may require you to sync your Niantic account or connect the app. Once you’ve set up the spoofing, be sure to follow all guidelines the service sets out. These are in place to prevent problems and make sure you spoof safely.
If you spoof, you may want to do so on an alternate account or set up a backup just in case.
Please note that this is not an above-board gameplay method. In fact, Niantic rather frowns on this kind of behavior. Any player who spoofs in any way is subject to being banned by the app. All the hard work you did to find that shiny Psyduck or collect all the regionals will go to waste since your account will be banned. Sometimes, Niantic will IP ban players, which means they can’t even make a new account and try again. Most spoofing apps have protocols in place to protect players from that, but it is always a risk.
If you lose your account, it could be temporary or permanent. It cannot be stressed enough that spoofing is not how Niantic or The Pokémon Company want anyone to play and doing so is a violation of their rules and guidelines. They are within reason to do whatever they want to those they catch spoofing, so it is not at all without risks.
