If you thought international sports rivalries were intense, wait until you see what happens when you drop 120 esports players onto a virtual island and tell them to fight for national glory. The PUBG Nations Cup 2026 Grand Finals have officially kicked off in Seoul, and things are already looking incredibly hectic.

Running through June 28 at the Jangchung Arena, this tournament is essentially the World Cup of battle royales. We are talking about 24 different countries bringing their absolute best squads to see who can survive the digital meat grinder and bring the trophy home.

The Chaos of the Lobby

Getting to this point was not exactly a walk in the park. KRAFTON ran a brutal Survival Stage earlier in the week, in which eight hungry teams clawed their way into the finals, including Ukraine, Türkiye, Denmark, Argentina, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines.

They are joining eight powerhouse regions that received automatic invites based on last year’s shenanigans, like defending champions Vietnam, South Korea, China, and the United States.

The player lineup reads like a certified VIP list of PUBG talent. You have big names like Shrimzy repping the US, Heaven trying to win it on home soil for Korea, Himass holding things down for Vietnam, and LilGhost looking to dominate for China. The UK squad is also lurking in the wings, desperately trying to reclaim the throne they last held back in 2022.

Fans are Throwing Cash at the Screen

If anyone tries to tell you that PUBG is slowing down, feel free to show them the ticket sales data. Day one tickets for the Grand Finals evaporated in a staggering ten minutes when they dropped earlier this month. Around 5,000 screaming fans are expected to pack the arena over the weekend.

This live hype matches up perfectly with the ridiculous numbers the game has been pulling online. The recent PUBG Global Series Circuit 2 absolutely shattered records, peaking at over 880,000 concurrent viewers and racking up over seven million hours of total watch time. People clearly love watching pro players execute perfect utility throws and tragic vehicle flips.

What is on the Line

Over the course of 15 intense matches, teams will hoard kill points and placement points to determine the final leaderboard. The stakes are sitting at a cool $500,000 base prize pool, but that number is going to climb significantly higher because KRAFTON is tossing 25% of the revenue from the event pass and item sales straight into the pot.

If you are watching from the comfort of your couch, you can catch the action on YouTube, Twitch, and Kick. Riot is handing out in-game drops just for tuning in, while the lucky fans sitting in the arena get to participate in live quiz events during the breaks. PUBG is officially celebrating its ninth anniversary this year, and pushing past 1.3 million peak concurrent players on Steam earlier this spring proves this old battle royale still has plenty of gas left in the tank.
