Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile Galore – Razer Invitational SEA 2022
The Razer Invitational Southeast Asia (SEA) 2022 is now live, featuring two of the most popular and highly-regarded esports games today – namely Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and PUBG Mobile. The event will run from February 14-27, 2022, where some of the best teams from the region will compete for a $30,000 prize pool.
The online event will be divided into two formats. First is the National Showdown where teams composed of handpicked members by each country’s esports federation will be eligible to compete. The other one is the Open Category which will cater to any team from SEA even they are not affiliated with their respective national esports federations. Both formats will be sanctioned and officiated by the Southeast Asian Esports Federation (SEAEF).
“We are honored that Razer’s vision and direction for the development of esports in Southeast Asia are very much aligned with SEAEF’s, and that Razer recognizes the growth and opportunity of esports in the region, SEAEF is proud to be sanctioning the Razer Invitational – SEA 2022 and will be sending the best esports athletes with the support of each SEAEF founding country member to participate in this event.” – Samart Benjamin Assarasakorn, Acting General Secretary of SEAEF.
MLBB and PUBG Mobile as SEA Games Titles
Also, both the mentioned titles will also be played as official games for the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian Games which will be held on May 12-23, 2022 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Flo Gutierrez, Director of Global Esports at Razer, provided a statement which reads as:
“The Razer Invitational has always been our commitment to offer inclusive gaming opportunities to the incredibly supportive Southeast Asian community, while preparing them for the SEA games. Staying true to that mission, this year we’re offering more gamers the potential to make a name for themselves on the world’s stage, while also giving them the support they need through the addition of master class sessions to hone their skills and engage in healthier gaming habits as part of our Champions Start from Within initiative.”
Masterclass from the “Legends”
Aside from the tournament proper, there will also be “The Masterclass” which Razer describes as “30-minute sessions with a series of game legends to share tricks and tips from strategy to roster design and game plays, on how to improve your gaming skills.” There are still no details on who will be conducting these but we’ll get you updated once Razer will provide more information.
