TFT Tier 1 Esports Circuit – three new tournaments and direct path to Tactician’s Crown

On top of announcing the new TFT set, Cyber City, Riot announced that the top 28 competitors from each region’s Golden Spatula will automatically qualify for the new circuit. With the new TFT ecosystem, players will be decided based on their performance in any given set. Four additional players from each region will be invited by Riot Games to meet the player count.

According to the game publisher, each of the three Tier 1 tournaments will run for three days, leaving only eight players on the last day. At the end of the set, the players will have to compete against the top participants from the Ranked Trials and Cups to claim their spot in the next set.

The news comes shortly after the end of Into the Arcane Tactician’s Crown, which saw Dishsoap win the tournament and bring home $150,000. He will automatically qualify for the upcoming Cyber City Tacticians Crown.

Qualifier system

To determine the seeding, Riot will use qualifier points, with the winners of each Tier 1 event automatically qualifying for the Tactician’s Crown.

  • 1st – 12th: Qualification for Week 2
  • 13th – 24th: Qualification for Week 1
  • 25th – 32nd: Qualification for Play-Ins

This means that those who Week 2 of the Golden Spatula will also qualify for the tier 1 circuit of the next set.

Golden Spatula Expansion

In the latest announcement, Riot also extended the duration of the Golden Spatula, which will be across two weekends instead of one. There will be a total of three stages, with play-ins featuring 16 teams and eight teams going to the second phase. Week 1 will see 48 players compete to determine the top 20 that joins the remaining 12 contestants to form the last bracket. The top eight from those 32 will then qualify for the final day of the competition.

With the addition of more Tier 1 tournaments and other TFT tournaments such as the Esports World Cup and Asian Champions League, it’s looking like a positive year for the auto battler competitive scene.
