G2 Stride Make Rocket League History at RLCS London

G2 Stride are the winners of the RLCS London Major 2024. This is the first time a true North American roster has won a Rocket League Major, and it’s no real surprise. They put on one of the most dominant performances we’ve seen in some time.

It’s the first time that an NA team has won a Major on European soil since 2019. G2 have earned their vindication after placing second in Copenhagen earlier this year.

G2 Stride vs Team Falcons

Team Falcons came out swinging in this series but unfortunately, seemed to run out of steam after their initial win in game 1. Out of 5 games played, they didn’t manage to score any goals at all in 3 of them.

As usual, a significant part of the crowd was rooting for the MENA underdogs but at the end of the day, G2 simply played the better Rocket League. They certainly got their revenge.

At the post game press conference, Satthew had some comments about the team’s adjustment to Falcon’s playstyle after their 3-0 loss during round 3 of the Swiss stage:

“That version of us was definitely not us at all. So in terms of adjusting, we first had to return to our normal level. But once we got there, we just made a couple of small adjustments. Some very small decisions that we had to change to play them because we saw what they were playing for every time they had the ball. So, once we did that, it was smooth sailing.”

With both 2024 Majors over and done with now, teams will be turning their attention to the newly announced Rocket League World Cup. But that doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll get to see the same teams playing together. With a focus on national teams, we may get to see a whole new way to play Rocket League.
