Juicy Domination and Team Vitality Upset – RLCS London Major Quarter Finals

After an intense Swiss stage which saw the likes of Oxygen Esports, OG and Team Secret sent home, today’s quarter final matchups were just as dramatic as you might expect. There were some astonishing performances from the likes of Juicy.

Let’s take a look at what went down.

Gentle Mates LAN dominance reigns supreme as Juicy dominates BDS

The most surprising result of today’s quarter final matches came from the manner in which Gentle Mates Alpine demolished Team BDS in a 4-0 sweep. Charles “juicy” Sabiani was the star of the show, as the Copenhagen Major MVP scored six goals and six assists whilst leading his team to the semi-finals.

Team BDS started game 1 strong, and it felt as though this battle between two French titans was destined for Champions Field. However, M8s dominated the rest of the game, and 4 consecutive goals to finish game 1 set the tone for the rest of the series. To put it bluntly, the series was not close, as M8s closed the series with score lines of 4-0, 4-1 and 6-1.

Juicy Rocket League

The French superstar is famous for being the only player in RLCS history to win a LAN event without first winning an online qualifier. Juicy’s Rocket League career began when he burst onto the scene after being picked up by Moist Esports for the second half of RLCS 22-23. With an impressive performance at the World Championships, he quickly gathered attention and was picked up by Itachi and Seikoo on Gentlemates Alpine for the RLCS 2024 season.

After winning the Copenhagen Major at the end of March, Gentlemates were determined to get Juicy his first online win during the second split, however it wasn’t meant to be.

Tomorrow Juicy will look to win his second Major LAN before his first online event victory, which would be a ridiculous feat.

FURIA come alive in the Quarter Finals

After a lackluster Swiss performance, many were regarding FURIA as the weakest team in the playoffs at the beginning of the day. After losing to Team Vitality and SSG, FURIA were forced to the final round of swiss, in which a close win over Oxygen secured them a spot in the quarter finals against Vitality.

Not only was this a rematch from Swiss, FURIA met Vitality in the quarter finals back in Copenhagen, a battle in which Team Vitality also came out on top with a 4-1 victory. Their record versus Team Vitality looked grim, and the odds were stacked against them.

FURIA, however, came out swinging. Two close wins were followed by a dominant 5-0 victory in game 3. This put them up 3-0 in the series, 1 game away from getting their revenge.

With the crowd on their side, Team Vitality faced the almost impossible task of a bo7 reverse sweep. Despite Zen’s best efforts, 1 game was all they could manage. FURIA took the overtime win in game 5 to close out the series 4-1. ‘Lostt.’ has a standout performance in the series, scoring 7 goals across the 5 matches.

The other quarter finals saw G2 Stride taking down SSG with a comfortable 4-1 victory. Team Falcons continued their Swiss dominance with a 4-1 win over Gen.G.
