The FGC had nothing to do this weekend (since they wouldn’t pay to watch Capcom Cup 12) so they are analyzing Chun-Li’s body instead

I’ve consistently covered the sexualization and objectification of women in gaming over the past few years, highlighting the gaming community’s desire for sexy, beautiful women all with the same body type and face. However, this instance is a little different.

A professional bodybuilder, voice actor Kyohei Nakagawa, recently analyzed Chun-Li’s physique in Street Fighter 6 to see how her muscles and fitness have changed from previous titles. And while impressive, he believes she’s past her prime.

Chun-Li’s Body and Muscles: Street Fighter 6 vs. Street Fighter 5

Chun-Li is one of the most iconic fighting game characters in history, first appearing in the arcades back in 1991 in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. While developers have never discussed her age, the game did mention a birthdate of March 1st, 1968.

This means that Chun-Li was 55 years old when Street Fighter 6 was released. I think there’s no denying that Chun-Li looks bada** for a woman of any age, let alone in her 50s.

In a post that is likely way too long and spent far too much time on this subject, Nakagawa decided to analyze Chun-Li’s physique in 2026.

According to the bodybuilder, Chun-Li is still extremely muscular in Street Fighter 6, but she’s no longer in her prime. However, this is definitely open to interpretation. And you can believe that people jumped at the chance to analyze a female character’s body.

Nakagawa started with her legs, her signature body part. In Street Fighter 5, he noted that her “quads in the front of her thighs look explosive, on the verge of bursting.” However, her thighs are toned down in Street Fighter 6. He added: “I guess she stopped doing heavy squats.”

Of course, her thighs are still massive.

Moving to her butt, which he studied extensively, Chun-Li had more roundness in the previous game. He compared it to a peach. While she still has muscle mass in her butt in Street Fighter 6, that muscle mass has dropped “about two-thirds.” It’s definitely a sad thing to hear for fans of big butts, which there are plenty paying attention to this in the gaming world.

Going to the upper body in Street Fighter 5, Chun-Li had a wide back “where you can see her latissimus dorsi even from under her armpits,” which he confusingly compared to a swan. Maybe this is bodybuilder speak. With a narrow waist, she had an hourglass figure. However, she has “shrunk” in Street Fighter 6, looking more compact.

“I wonder if she stopped doing shoulder presses or side raises,” he pondered.

Overall, Chun-Li is no longer the beast she was in Street Fighter 5, but she still has a great physique. While this may make her “past her prime” to bodybuilders, some gamers feel this new look is more feminine and appealing, despite the smaller butt.

Of course, the decision to tone down Chun-Li’s bulk is not to do with her age, but Street Fighter 6’s style. However, it’s still a fun conversation, I guess. Or maybe we’re all bored since we didn’t wanna pay to watch Capcom Cup 12 and had nothing else to do.
