Team Liquid x VISA – a naming partnership
The partnership will see Team Liquid’s VCT Game Changers team compete under the name of Team Liquid Visa in the Brazilian championship, as well as featuring the brand’s logo on the front of the team’s jerseys.
Throughout the years, Team Liquid has been investing heavily in the female VALORANT scene. Thanks to its lineup, the team was able to secure third and second place at the VCT 2022 and 2023 Game Changers Championship, respectively. And given the strong result in the first tournament of the season (Series 1) and the ongoing Series 2, it’s likely to see Team Liquid take part in the 2024 VCT Game Changers Championship towards the end of the year. The final event will take place from November 8-17 at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin.
Visa joins Team Liquid’s long list of partners which includes the likes of Sui, hardware brand Alienware, crypto exchange Coinbase, car maker Honda, energy drink brand Monster Energy, SAP, Thorne, Secretlab, and trading firm IMC.
Visa has been investing in esports for years
This is not the first the payment card service company has been involved in esports, having previously partnered with FACEIT back in 2019 and with the German esports organization SK Gaming in 2017.
One of VISA’s main competitors, Mastercard, has been sponsoring the global LoL events for the past few years, and other fintech companies like Paysafe have been investing their presence in the gaming and esports industry (VCT EMEA league).
Aside from Team Liquid, VISA has teamed up with Argentine esports organization Leviatán and recently launched an esports academy project with Ukrainian esports organization Natus Vincere (NAVI).
