Tekken 8 pro becomes first player to reach God of Destruction 7 level before game’s eventual demise

Tekken 8 is going through a rough patch, with the changes from Season 2 continuing to create massive backlash from competitive players. However, not everyone has given up on Tekken.
Pro Tekken player Fahad “yOReDz” Almutairi has been grinding Tekken 8 nonstop, maybe more than every other FGC player ever. Since Tekken came out in 2024, yOReDz has been competing in ranked online matches enough to become the highest-ranked player in the game, according to the leaderboard.
Now, yOReDz has reportedly become the first player in the world to reach the God of Destruction 7 rank online. The only rank left for him now is God of Destruction Infinity. To reach God of Destruction 7, yOReDz had to earn at least 400,000 points. He needs 30,000 more to get to the final rank.

yOReDz is clearly an exceptional player and all the grinding paid off. He placed 13th at Evo Japan last year, 17th at the Esports World Cup, and 13th at the Tekken World Tour 2025 finals, all while using Ling Xiaoyu.
But yOReDz is just one of many pros in the scene. While he has been grinding away, many pro players have been leaving altogether. The number of competitors at massive tournaments is sinking lower and lower, with many pros blaming Season 2.
Season 3 hasn’t done much to improve anything, with developers admitting that only small changes can be made for now. This leaves the game in a very troubling state with aggressive, simplistic gameplay that doesn’t appeal to competitive players. It’s tough to say if Tekken 8 will survive another season.
Well, at least yOReDz can reach that final rank first.
