VALORANT players often encounter a weird issue that prevents them from playing the game with their friend. The worst part is the game doesn’t even mention why those users can’t play together, which is why they flock to the internet to find the exact reason behind this. Rank Disparity

It’s no secret that the VALORANT ranking system is well structured that pits players against each other based on their skill level. However, the game’s ranking system prevents you to play VALORANT with a friend if there’s a huge rank gap between you two.

The system has been implemented to ensure fair matchmaking when playing the ranked or competitive VALORANT modes. Thankfully, a party of five members can queue without rank restrictions. The only caveat, however, is that all the players will face a 25 percent RR reduction, irrespective of the match’s outcome.

Different regions

You cannot play VALORANT with your friend, if they live in a different region than you. For instance, Asian players can’t team up with American players because the system assigns players to servers based on their location to minimize latency. Although it’s possible to change region in VALORANT, but it’s worth noting that the process is quite lengthy, and you won’t be able to switch back to your original region for the next 90 days.

Platform restrictions

Finally, players on different platforms can’t play VALORANT together. In case you don’t know, the game has been recently launched for Xbox and PlayStation consoles and players are looking for a way to team up with PC players. Unfortunately, it’s not possible as there’s a lack of cross platform play functionality. As a result, you and your friend cannot play VALORANT together. In order to do so, both of you need to be on PCs or consoles at the same time to queue up together.
