It’s 2025, and Aspas has joined a new roster within VCT with MIBR. While that might have surprised most, the organization’s losing its first match hasn’t surprised many. If there were two teams that many were curious to watch within VCT Americas Kickoff, it would be MIBR and Cloud9. Cloud9 made specific changes within their roster two weeks before the season began. Many would seem harsh, but we have also seen this in the past. During the 2023 season, Cloud9 removed yay, who was one of the best players at that time, only after a game.
In their first match in VCT Americas Kickoff, Cloud9 faced off against NRG Esports. They won that series with a scoreline of 2-0. The point to note here is that other than Xeppaa, no one on Cloud 9 ended with a positive kills-to-death ratio. A similar affair took place in their next match against G2 Esports. This time, no player had a positive kill-to-death ratio, with Cloud 9’s ace duelist OXY having a first kill-to-first death ratio of -6.
On the other hand, MIBR is facing a similar issue, just like Cloud 9. This feels more concerning the synergy between the players. MIBR is known within the VCT Americas league as one of the weaker teams. While adding aspas to the team is vital, in their first game against 100 Thieves, they lose with a scoreline of 2-0. The only player who had a positive K:D ratio in MIBR was Aspas.

These two teams are one-player teams in their current form. Their whole performance is based on how one player performs. Thus, for either team to stand a chance, they will need more than one player to pull up their sleeves. Cloud 9 showed during the VCT Americas Kickoff that they have what it takes to keep the lead and secure a win. MIBR will be required to focus more on their post-plant strategies to secure their first map win within this tournament. All eyes are on Aspas to see if he can turn the tide for MIBR in the upcoming match.
