What To Do If You Can’t See Enemy Chat in VALORANT?

In VALORANT, enemy or all chat is used for various purposes such as light-hearted banter or trash talk. In fact, many players use this feature to joke with opponents or even challenge each other to friendly duels such as asking for knife fights. However, some users have reported that they’re unable to see enemy chat at all in VALORANT, which restricts them from communicating with their opponent. If you’re also facing the same issue, here’s how to fix it.

Why can’t you see enemy chat in VALORANT?

First of all, if you can’t see enemy chat in VALORANT, chances are you’ve unintentionally disabled this feature in the settings. To enable it, follow these steps:

  • Launch VALORANT and start a match.
  • Press the Escape button on your keyboard once you’re in the game.
  • In the settings tab, uncheck the “Mute all enemy text chat” option.

Once you’ve followed these steps correctly, all the text messages sent by your opponents will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen. If you want to send a message in the enemy chat, simply press Shift + Enter to open the chatbox.

Another possible reason you can’t see enemy chat in VALORANT, is that you’ve probably received a text ban. Remember how you accepted the Community Code when first launching VALORANT? Well, there are certain words and phrases that, without question, are inexcusable in polite company that directly go against the Code even if the VALORANT profanity filter is turned off. This includes:

  • Insulting, threatening, harassing, or offensive language.
  • Abusive language targeted at players based on their performance or otherwise.
  • Any kind of discrimination or hate speech. This includes targeting a player’s race, ethnicity, religion, ability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

VALORANT has systems in place to detect such communications, typed or spoken. If it discovers bad behavior, you will automatically receive a ban on chat of any kind—or worse. As a result, you won’t be able to see enemy chat and even whisper to your teammates.
