VALORANT Challengers League Japan 2024: The storyline so far
Currently, the team that is on top of the table is FENNEL Esports. FENNEL Esports qualified for the VCL Japan 2024 through the first open qualifiers of the tournament. Currently, they are unbeaten in the group stage with a score of 3-0. They have just lost one map in all their matches. One of the players to watch out for is SyouTa who currently has an ACS of 299.1 and an ADR of 194.
The next three teams have all won two matches and lost one. They are Varrel, Sengoku Gaming, and Reject. Each of the teams has a positive round differential. One of the players to watch out for from Varrel is none other than the South Korean star LOB. Currently, he has a K/D of 1.27:1. Interestingly he also has a headshot percentage of 31 which is one of the highest in the group stage.
Nobita is another player to keep an eye out for from Sengoku Gaming. He has been primarily an initiator for his team playing both Sova and Fade. He currently possesses an ACS of 207.4 in the VCL Japan.

The next part of the tournament is stated to take place on Feb. 15 and 16. Below are the fixtures that are stated to take place in the upcoming week:
- Northeption (5th Position) vs Igzist (6th Position)
- Varrel (2nd Positon) vs Scarz (8th Position)
- Reject (4th Position) vs Murash Gaming (7th Position)
- Sengoku Gaming (3rd Position) vs Fennel (1st Position)
The match that fans should keep their eyes on is the game between Reject and Murash Gaming. This is so that if Reject loses the game 2-0 then Murash will be on the same number of wins and losses as well as a similar map differential. Thus, deciding their faith for the last two weeks of the tournament.
If Fennel can win against Sengoku Gaming, they will be dipping one of their feet into the upper bracket finals of the playoffs. Fennel will need to keep in mind that Varrel is the favorite in their match against Scarz. Scarz was the representative from Japan last year for the VCT Pacific Ascension. As such, Fennel will be hoping that Scarz may pull out an upset while having lost all of their previous matches.
