How to play VALORANT on Mac

Despite VALORANT being one of the most popular first-person shooter titles, it does not have a dedicated version for Mac. Therefore, Mac users are always on the lookout for creative solutions to run this shooter game on their systems. Due to the lack of native support, there aren’t many options available on the internet but luckily, we’ve figured out a few workarounds through which you can play VALORANT on Mac.

How to download and install VALORANT on Mac

List of Supported Macbooks

You can run VALORANT using Boot Camp only if you have an intel chip Mac, which means the method given below doesn’t work for Macs with M1, M2, or M3 CPUs. Here’s the list of Macs that are eligible for this method:

MacBook 2015 or later
MacBook Air/Pro 2012 or later
Mac Mini 2012 or later
iMac 2012 or later
iMac Pro (all models)
Mac Pro 2013 or later

Steps to get started with Boot Camp

In case you weren’t aware, Boot Camp is a free software that allows you to install Windows on your MacBook’s hard drive and run Windows applications.

To start off, you’ll need at least 64 GB of free storage space, a USB stick with at least 5GB of storage space and a Windows ISO file. Once you have these, insert the USB stick into your Intel Mac and open the Boot Camp Assistant. Next, choose both the option that lets you make an install disc for Windows 10 or newer.

Finally, click install and the Boot Camp software will restart your system and start installing the Windows operating system. Now, we won’t explain the entire process of installing Windows as you can refer to the ton of YouTube videos. However, we strongly suggest enabling the TPM option; otherwise, VALORANT’s anti-cheat won’t run properly.

Once you have the Windows system installed on your Mac, launch your web browser and download the VALORANT setup from theofficial Riot Games VALORANT page. The file size after installation would be around 40GB, so make sure to proceed only if you have plenty of free storage left. Once installed, you can log in to your Riot Games account and enjoy the game.

However, keep in mind that Macs aren’t built for gaming which means you will experience stutters, frame drops, and delayed response time. The best way to avoid these hiccups is by lowering the graphics settings and playing the game while the MacBook is plugged in.

Will Riot Games release VALORANT for Mac?

Unfortunately, there’s no official statement from Riot Games on the release of VALORANT for Apple’s Mac.

Thankfully, the developers are reportedly working on the mobile and console versions of the game. This means you might get a chance in the coming months to play VALORANT if you have a decent smartphone or Xbox and PlayStation.
