Omen’s Ultimate gets a major buff in VALORANT latest patch

In VALORANT, where every agent’s ability can turn the tide of battle, a seemingly small tweak can have a significant impact on gameplay. The latest PBE 8.07 patch has brought a major upgrade to Omen, the shadowy controller agent known for his ability to obscure vision and teleport across the map. While some might question whether Omen really needed a buff, this particular change is stirring up the VALORANT community with its potential strategic implications.

Previously, Omen’s ultimate ability, “From the Shadows,” allowed him to teleport anywhere on the map, but it came with limitations that often felt clunky. Players encountered inconsistencies when trying to interact with the spike or other objects while using Omen’s ultimate ability. Sometimes, it worked; other times, it didn’t, forcing players to cancel the ultimate and reveal their position prematurely. This was widely regarded as a bug rather than a feature.

However, the latest patch has smoothed out these rough edges, turning what was once a glitch into an official feature. Now, Omen can seamlessly pick up the spike in VALORANT and interact with things like door levers without having to cancel his ultimate.

Imagine being able to secure the spike from a dangerous spot or silently opening a path for your team—all while being a ghostly presence on the map. This Omen buff is in beta testing as of now, and it is expected to launch on the global servers on April 10, 2024, along with the next Night Market update.

While this upgrade might seem minor, it’s the kind of change that could have a noteworthy impact in professional play. It won’t break Omen as a character in VALORANT, but it gives skilled players another tool to form new strategies, especially during those intense 1v1 battles.

On another note, the patch also brings a series of updates to Clove, an agent whose debut in the professional scene has been hampered by multiple bugs. These fixes are aimed at preparing Clove for inclusion in the active agent pool for professional play. While Riot Games claims to have ironed out these issues, only time will tell if these changes hold up under the scrutiny of high-level play.
