Going into VALORANT Champions, people from the community termed group B the group of death. It consisted of the VCT Masters Madrid and Shanghai winners and the runner-ups of VCT Masters Shanghai. Sentinels lost in their first match against Gen G. Going into this game during day 7 of VALORANT Champions 2024; they would be out of the tournament if Sentinels didn’t win. Going into this match, Sentinels hadn’t won a map since the start of July, finding them eighth on our VALORANT Champions Power Rankings.
Game 1 was played on the map of Bind, which was FunPlus Phoenix’s map pick. Their team composition consisted of Chamber, played by Kale “Autumn” Dunne. Meanwhile, Sentinels won the map by winning nine rounds on defense. Most of them were killing the entire team of FunPlus Phoenix before they could plant the spike. This was due to their Brimstone, Viper, and Gekko composition. To create space and hide vision, they had smokes and mollies. Sentinels mainly used this ability to delay the spike being planted onto any site on the map.
Game 2 was a completely different picture. On Lotus, Sentinels maintained the lead until the final round of the map. Mohamed “johnqt” Amine Ouarid secured the win for his team with an incredible 1v2 clutch with a scoreline of 13-5.
Zachary “zekken” Patrone was the MVP during the 2-match series. He finished the series with a kill-to-death difference of +15, making him the match MVP. This result would mean that Funplus Phoenix has been eliminated once again from the group stage of an international VALORANT tournament.
On the other hand, we will see Gen G vs. Sentinels 3 in the finals of the lower bracket. The winner of that match will qualify for VALORANT Champions 2024 playoffs.

KRU Esports is one of the few teams in VALORANT esports history to make it to every Champions. Due to this, the team has become one of the most famous within the Latin America region. During VALORANT Champions 2024, BiliBili Gaming and KRU Esports lost their first match.
Game 1 was played on the Lotus map. BiliBili Gaming ended the first half with a 7-5 lead. Once KRU Esports were on the attack, the story flipped. KRU Esports would take up more duels than play for the post plant due to having an initiator-based setup. Due to this, they would win 7 out of the eight rounds by killing the entire team of BiliBili Gaming. Ultimately, KRU Esports won the map with a scoreline of 13-9.
Game 2 was played on Lotus. Interestingly, the team composition was similar, with KRU Esports opting for Gekko and BiliBili Gaming selecting Kay/0. This agent selection was one of the significant reasons for KRU Esports’s victory, which was 13-4. Olavo “heat” Marcelo played Gekko. Heat defused the spike 3 out of the five rounds during the defensive half. During the other rounds, he could use his other abilities to support his teammates and himself and secure multiple kills.
With this win, KRU Esports will face off against Fnatuc. The last time these two teams faced off against each other was the VALORANT Champions 2021 with KRU Esports winning that match. Will history repeat itself? Only time will tell.
