Going into the VALORANT Champions playoffs, many were surprised to see the Sentinels make it through. This was due to them not being in the best of form during VCT Americas Stage Two and being in the group of death within the event. They did beat the VCT Masters Shanghai winners in Gen G to qualify as the second seed of their group. DRX, on the other hand, has had quite a flawless run in the tournament with its new roster.

Game 1 was played on the map of Sunset. It was interesting that no team had selected Gekko on this map. An agent that has had quite a high pick rate on this map. Returning to this game, it was a close matchup between the teams. The first half ended with a score of 6-6, with Zachary “zekken” Patrone getting an incredible ACE during round 7 to ensure his team won.

DRX was close to winning the map, but an incredible effort by Mohamed Amine “Johqt” Ouarid secured a 4K, which took the game to overtime. With momentum on their side, Sentinel went on to win game 1 with a score of 15-13.

Game 2 was played on the map of Haven. An interesting note was that Sentinels played the same team comp as DRX in the previous match. Haven started similarly to the first match, as the score following the first half was 6-6. The story during the second half was quite different. On defense, Sentinels just shut down DRX on the post plant. Out of the seven rounds that Sentinels won, four were due to the spike being diffused. Sentinels won the map with a score of 13-8.

Currently, if one region of VALORANT is dominated by one team, it is none other than EDward Gaming. In VCT China, the team has won both VCT CN Stage 1 and 2 in quite a dominant fashion. Following their incredible reverse sweep against Paper Rex, Edward Gaming had to face their VCT CN rival Trace Esports, a team that beat all the odds to qualify for the playoff of VALORANT Champions 2024.

In the second match of VALORANT Champions Day 10, game one was played on the map of Bind. Trace Esports played with their infamous team composition consisting of Deadlock and Cypher. This game was one-sided as EDward Gaming blitzed through their opponents. Wang “nobody” Senxu ended the game with an incredible KDA of 23/11/5. He secured five 2K and two 3K to his name.

Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang secured six first bloods on Raze during this match because he emphasized using the Operator when possible. EDward won the game with a score of 13-7.

The story was similar to Game 2 of the Map. In the first half, the map’s score was 10-2 in favor of EDward Gaming. Unlike the last map, Trace Esports tried their best to cement a comeback, winning eight defensive rounds quickly. Sadly, the lead gained by EDward Gaming in the first half was too much for Trace Esports to conquer. This resulted in EDward Gaming taking Map 2 with a score of 13-8.

EDward Gaming will face Sentinels in the Upper Bracket Semi-finals. On the other hand, Trace Esports will face DRX on August 16th.
