During Summerfest 2024, Riot announced the launch of VALORANT on consoles. This announcement was the start of multiple major announcements by VALORANT. Just before the grand finals of VCT Masters Shanghai, a showmatch was hosted to introduce the new map Abyss. This will be the 11th map launched in the game. One aspect of the cinematic video of the map was a figure shadow. Is it a hint to the next agent in VALORANT?

Is the next VALORANT Agent hinted at in Abyss?

It’s been noted that VALORANT has released quite a few agents since its launch. This is one major reason it’s different from other games, such as CS2. This year, we have already seen the launch Clove, the 24th agent in the game. Since Clove’s launch, the agents have also seen many of their abilities nerfed. The video released by VALORANT, SANCTUM OF SECRETS // Abyss, shows the map as a whole. The new map is meant to be an off-grid research facility, including a particular prison.

An hourglass-like figure is shown after the VALORANT title card is seen at 3:06. This is not a playable part of the map Abyss. Suddenly, two bullets are fired at it, and the air is now leaking out from the bullet holes. A silhouette can be seen close to the glass. This looks to be a prison with a very low temperature.

The video clip ends with a zoom into the hand of the figure. With a bit of movement, it does show that it is alive. It’s currently being speculated that this will be the next agent within the game. Last year, during VALORANT Champions 2023, Gekko was released in the game and this year, Clove was released during VCT Masters Madrid.

It’s already public knowledge that the VALORANT Champions 2024 is slated to take place in August in South Korea. This suggests that the next agent in VALORANT could be released during the VALORANT Champions 2024. Only time will tell if this figure will be the next agent or a non-playable character in VALORANT.
