Why did Team Heretics Have Their VCT Master Shanghai Fixture Changed?

VCT Masters Team Heretics

Team Heretics is the second seed from the VCT EMEA league for VCT Masters Shanghai, having lost the grand finals to Fnatic in an incredible series. The game was a close affair, with their side having the chance to win the event for themselves. The rules for the VCT Masters Shanghai event are pretty simple, with the first seed from each league receiving a bye to the playoffs stage.

As Team Heretics finished second, the team has to start its tournament from the Swiss round stage. The Swiss round stage is set to begin on May 23, with the first match being between T1 and G2. In a recent post on X, the VALORANT Champions Tour page (@ValorantEsports) stated the following in an announcement:

“Due to anticipated travel delays, Team Heretics is at risk of being unable to field a full roster for their opening day match at Masters Shanghai on Thursday, May 23. As a result, we have made the decision to move the match between Team Heretics and Dragon Ranger Gaming to the second slot on Friday, May 24.”

This is the second announcement concerning a valuable player who is burnt out and taking a break from competitive play. Previously, Bleed Esports said the same concerning yay in a recent announcement concerning his benching.

The Spanish organization Team Heretics has quite a unique roster in VALORANT. Consisting of two brothers who are Ričardas “Boo” Lukaševičius & Dominykas “MiniBoo” Lukaševičius, One must note that MiniBoo is just 18 years old. In a recent announcement of Team Heretics on X, they stated the following:

“Some weeks ago, we identified that our player Dominykas ‘Miniboo’ Lukaševičius was starting to show signs of burnout, anxiety, and overall exhaustion. Therefore, some days ago, we made the hard but correct decision to give him a break from competing, which means that he will not be attending Masters Shanghai with the team.”

In conclusion, the organization mentioned that they will be looking to add another player to their roster before Masters Shanghai. In a quote tweet to the announcement post, Miniboo said:

“I am good, I just need to finish my exams, and that’s all; I wouldn’t be able to play playoffs anyway in Shanghai due to exams.“

Team Heretics announced in a statement yesterday that Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski will be returning to the team. He was previously part of the team during VCT EMEA Kickoff, helping the team qualify for VCT Masters Madrid. During Masters Madrid, the team got knocked out early due to losing matches against Sentinels and Paper Rex.

After that tournament, Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski was benched, and Mert “Wo0t” Alkan returned to the team after becoming eligible to play. Team Heretics then went on a flawless run to the Grand Finals, losing just one map in 5 matches. With the addition of “paTiTek” to the roster, it will be interesting to see if Team Heretic can match it through the Swiss stage, this time in VCT Masters Shanghai.
