Best Races for Druid in WoW – Become the Strongest Shapeshifter
Druids have always been one of the more unique classes in World of Warcraft – a true hybrid that could fill in any role in the game. Despite being so versatile, Druids have also always been very limited when it came to choosing their race.
For the longest time, druids could only choose Night Elves and Tauren as their races, but this has changed significantly over the years. Today, Druids have a wide range of races to choose from, all of which bring unique traits to the table.
Today we’ll discuss WoW best races for Druids, and see which ones deserve the top spot, and why.

Gold Farming Druids
It’s no secret that Druids are the best WoW gold farmers in the game. They have incredible mobility, strong AoE damage and can move around the world effortlessly through the Emerald Dreamway. As such, they are the perfect class to min/max to farm all types of content. If farming WoW gold is your main concern, then you’ll have some great race picks to consider.
Alliance
Worgen Druids are a strong pick for Alliance players as they are not only the best skinners in the game, but they also have Darkflight, which serves as yet another movement speed cooldown to help you zoom around the old WoW raids.
Night Elves are a great second choice, offering extra movement speed with Quickness and the ability to reset combat with Shadowmeld, just in case things go south.
Horde
The number one pick for Horde has to be Zandalari Trolls. Their passive 5% movement speed buff and unique shapeshifting forms make them one of the best races for Druids. They also loot additional gold from monsters, so that’s a nice little bonus.
Highmountain Tauren are also incredibly good Druids since they increase mining speed and gain extra meat and fish from monsters. Highmountain Tauren Druids are some of the best gatherers in the game, so if you’re planning on reaching the WoW gold cap via mining, this is the go-to race for you.

The Best Looking Druids
Collecting WoW transmog is one of the favorite side activities in World of Warcraft nowadays. Defeating bosses is important, but doing it in style is even more crucial. Luckily, Druids have a plethora of great transmog sets they can collect, but not every race will look as fabulous wearing them.
Alliance
The coolest looking Druid Alliance race has to be the Kul Tirans. These sea-loving Humans have found ways to shapeshift and have some incredibly unique forms. All types of transmog sets look great on them, making them the perfect druid race for all the fashionistas out there.
Horde
This might surprise you, but our top pick for the Horde are the Tauren. Yes, they are the original Druid race, but they simply look great in all the Druid transmog sets. Whether it’s the old MoP Cycle set or some of the new Dragonflight costumes, Taurens simply pull them off.
PvE & PvP Druids
When it comes to completing raids and doing competitive PvP, Druids are quite flexible and can use a variety of different races.
Kul Tirans and Highmountain Taurens will be excellent Druid tanks, and when it comes to Dps potential they’re all pretty much even. It’s honestly far more important to pick whatever feels more enjoyable to play, than chase that 1% increase in dps output.
PvP is a slightly different story. Night Elves are by far the best race for Alliance since they can do some crazy tricks with Shadowmeld. Taurens have the War Stomp ability, which is a short stun that can help them land a quick heal and gain some distance. But overall, pretty much all races will do well in the hands of a capable Druid WoW PvP player.

Try All the Druid Races
Druids only have seven races to choose from, so it’s far easier to test all of them in a relatively short time. Just wait until there’s a Joyous Journey event with 50% exp gain and level all your druids to the max level. This might sound like a waste of time to some, but keep in mind that druids are the best farmers in the game. You can main one druid and use all the rest to do your different daily chores. The possibilities are endless.
In either case, we hope this guide has helped you make a decision on what race to play as a Druid. If you’re interested in more WoW content, feel free to check out our WoW news section where we have other WoW guides you can browse through at your leisure.
