WoW Classic Hunter Leveling Guide – Experience the Fastest Leveling Class

Hunter is one of the best classes for leveling in WoW Classic Wrath of the Lich King and WoW Classic Era servers. Whether you’re leveling from 1 to 60 or all the way to 80 in Northrend, Hunter will do the job flawlessly.

The reason why Hunter is so great for leveling is due to its strong and capable pet. Your pet essentially accounts for half of your strength, so taking care of it is crucial.

Taming Your First Pet

Hunters are incredible levelers, but they struggle pre level 10. Level 10 is the turning point for Hunters, since this is when they unlock the ability to tame their first WoW Hunter pet. Before hitting 10, you’ll be shooting your bow and kiting a lot. It’s not the most fun experience, but it picks up drastically once you have your pet with you.

Your first pet can be any type of beast. The choice is not too important as you can always abandon it and tame a new one later down the road. However, our suggestion is to tame a boar for a very specific reason. Boars come with a Charge ability, allowing them to quickly close the gap to their target and establish some initial aggro with their first hit. This helps a lot when chain pulling monsters one after the other.

Another great pet is the Owl. These birds can use the Screech ability, which does a moderate amount of AoE damage and adds threat to all the targets. This pet is great if you’re often pulling more than one mob.

Hunter Leveling Tips

In this section, we’ll share some helpful tips to make your Hunter leveling journey much smoother, and take it to the next level.

Always Carry Enough Ammo

Never allow yourself to be in a situation where you run out of ammo/arrows on your Hunter. The best WoW players always pay close attention to their ammo count and restock every chance they get. Also, make sure to upgrade your Quiver whenever a new one is available. This will help you carry even more ammo.

Bring Food for Your Pet

Your pet has a happiness bar and will get hungry the longer you play. This mechanic is less important in WoW Classic WotLK where Hunters have ways to replenish their pet’s happiness bar through other means, but in Classic Era servers this is crucial. Make sure to check what type of food your pet likes to eat and carry at least a stack or two with you.

Create Macros

Hunters have a LOT of abilities in WoW Classic, so they benefit greatly from using macros. Simply adding the /petattack command to some of your main abilities will help streamline your combat while leveling.

You can also merge your main melee abilities into one single macro for ease of use. There’s no drawback to this and it just declutters your action bars.

Use Feign Death

Your Feign Death is a free get-out-of-jail card in every situation. Don’t just sit on it, but actively use it to prevent monster aggro or even death. It has a 30 second cooldown and can even be reduced further with certain talents. Make sure to use this ability frequently and your leveling efficiency will spike up.

Farming with Aspect of the Cheetah

Aspect of the Cheetah is an excellent mobility tool that Hunters have. You should be toggling this ability whenever you’re running from one mob to the next, to cut down on overall leveling time. Even when you get your first mount, you should still be using this ability regularly. If you’re farming WoW gold in one spot, Aspect of the Cheetah will help tremendously to circle around and mow down one mob after the other.

Start Leveling a Hunter Today

Hunters are an incredibly strong and fun class. If you never played one, you really owe it to yourself to give it a try. This class really stands out from the rest and makes combat look easy compared to other classes who sometimes really struggle.

You’re basically playing and controlling two classes in one, so that adds a bit of complexity and challenge into the mix.

If you enjoy the theme of pet classes in MMORPGs, then Hunter will be right up your alley. All you need to do is pick up your WoW professions, get some food for the pet and then hit the road. The leveling journey will be a breeze and you’ll enjoy every bit of it, that’s a guarantee!
