WoW Classic Rogue Leveling Guide – Stealth Your Way to 60
In this WoW Classic Rogue leveling guide, we’ll be taking a look at the stealthy assassin class of World of Warcraft.
Rogues are unique in a sense that they’re one of the two only classes that can use Stealth to bypass in-game mechanics and prowl the world unseen. Druid is the only other class capable of stealthing, but it’s important to state that Rogue does it better in almost every regard.
If you’re interested in playing a Rogue and becoming a real menace in world PvP, then stay with us as we explore the best leveling methods for this incredibly fun and high skill cap class in WoW Classic.

Starting a Rogue
When first starting a Rogue in WoW Classic Era, you’ll begin the game with a single dagger to carve your path forward. It is only at level 10 when you get to unlock dual wielding and start truly doing some massive damage to the enemy.
Rogues, being one of the best WoW PvP classes in the game, unlock Stealth pretty early on. This ability will essentially allow you to stay permanently hidden from the rest of the monsters and players alike, until you use an attack or get too close to a monster and get spotted. Learning how to use this ability effectively will be key throughout your leveling journey.
Use the period from 1-10 to get accustomed to your Rogue, because as soon as we hit level 10 we’re kicking things into high gear.
Picking the Right Talents
Leveling in WoW Classic takes a while, so picking the right talents in order to maximize exp gains and minimize downtime is crucial. For this reason, the main go-to spec will be Combat. Even though Rogues are masters of subtlety and live in the shadows, they don’t really get to enjoy that playstyle until higher levels. Early on, the Combat spec absolutely wrecks and plays similarly to a Fury warrior, where you just open on a mob and cleave it down quickly.
Combat offers great damage with talents such as Improved Sinister Strike, Precision, Dual Wield Specialization and Sword Specialization. You also pick up Riposte, which is a great talent for both damage and crowd control, as it allows you to disarm the target for 6 seconds. All in all, this spec feels great to play all the way to 60.
Farming WoW gold with Combat is also incredibly easy, since the spec has a lot of cleave with Blade Flurry and Adrenaline Rush.
Leveling with Subtlety
Some of the best WoW players who enjoy some challenge will sometimes level as Subtlety until 60. This specialization focuses on enhancing your Stealth abilities and improving crowd control, making it excellent for world PvP. The general playstyle will revolve around big Ambush crits and finishing mobs with Hemorrhage.
The Subtlety spec offers a great balance in terms of raw exp efficiency and PvP capability, allowing you to always be ready to face any foe in the world.

Assassination Talents
Assassination Rogues are not that great for leveling or general play, simply because the other two specs completely outshine it. Assassination has some great talents such as Malice for the 5% critical chance and Lethality for 30% increased crit damage, but both other specializations pick these anyway. Cold Blood and Vigor talents are not that great on their own and only work in niche Rogue builds.
Rogue Leveling Tips
We’ll quickly list some powerful Rogue leveling tips to help you level to 60 quicker.
Use the Throw skill to Kite Elites
Elite monsters are hard to solo for pretty much any class. However, rogues have a trick up their sleeve with Crippling Poison and Throw. You can open on an elite, do some quick damage while applying Crippling Poison, and then proceed to kite indefinitely with your Throwing Weapons. This will continue applying leash on the monster and slowly whittle it down, while keeping you out of harm’s way.
Level Your Poisons
Don’t neglect your poisons as they will account for a large chunk of your overall damage. Instant Poison will be your bread and butter throughout the leveling process, so always make sure to craft the highest ranks possible.
Always Get the Best Swords
To continue leveling at the same pace, make sure to always upgrade your Swords (or Daggers if you’re going with an ambush build) either through dungeons or via the Auction House. Your main weapons determine how hard your abilities hit, so getting the best possible weapon for your level will always be the number one priority.
