WoW DPS Tier List – Best To Worst Classes For Raiding and Mythic+

In the ideal world, all classes and specializations are equal, and they can all contribute the same to the fight both in raids as well as Mythic+. Unfortunately, we do not live in the ideal world, and there are some classes that heavily outperform others if the players are on the same skill level, which is why a WoW dps tier list tends to exist.

WoW DPS Tier List – Raiding

When it comes to PvE content, raiding is definitely the more popular part of it, even if Mythic+ happens to have a competitive scene. Because of that, we are going to get the World of Warcraft DPS tier list for raiding out of the way first. Keep in mind that the tier list is subject to change if there are some in-game changes, and unless you are doing end-game content, the tier list is not what should determine what class you are going to play.

Specialization Highlights

Augmentation Evoker

The latest expansion added Evoker as a class, and Augmentation Evokers, as tradition goes, are pretty good in their first release form. While they do not contribute that much damage to the raid themselves, as they are the only class that relies on other raid members when it comes to contributing to damage, they are still amazing. If you pair an Augmentation Evoker with skilled DPS members, their damage is absolutely incredible. While you may not top the damage meters with this class as they are not tracked correctly, do not be fooled, as Augmentation Evokers are incredibly powerful.

Demonology Warlock

At this point, it should come as no surprise to see a Warlock class at the top of the DPS tier list. Demonology Warlock has a great tier bonus that provides them with some of the best bursts in the game, and their single-target damage is unmatched. No matter what WoW raid you are planning to join, there is always going to be a spot for you if you are playing a Demolock.

Destruction Warlock

Two Warlock specs in the S-Tier? Nothing new, we know. For fights that require you to cleave multiple targets for loads of damage, Destruction Warlocks take full advantage of Havoc and Summon Infernal. While Demonology is still the preferred option as it is stronger in every way, the difference is not that big as both specs bring utility, such as Healthstones, Demonic Gateways, and other Warlock spells.

Arcane Mage

From all the Mage specs out there for raiding, Arcane seems to be performing the best out of all of them. While this spec is incredibly strong, there is one flaw with it, and that is that it is quite difficult to play. If you are looking for a spec with an easy rotation, Arcane Mage is definitely not one of them, so if that might be an issue, skip out on it and play something else.

Devastation Evoker

It should not come as a surprise that another Evoker spec is in the S-Tier, but they were in the A-tier prior to a big batch of improvements in the 10.1.5 patch. While they are now one of the best ranged DPS specs out there, they do have one flaw that makes other options in the S-Tier better than them, and that is the part where they are limited to 25 yards of range. This can cause some positioning issues in certain fights, but in the hands of a skilled WoW player, that flaw is not as bad of a drawback as it seems.

WoW DPS Tier List – Mythic+

If you are not into raiding, but you are more into Mythic+ spamming and doing high keys, do not worry; we got you covered. Just like with the raiding DPS tier list, this one is subject to change if a patch hits the game at any point. Another thing that is worth pointing out is that certain dungeons and affixes will help some specializations shine more than others, which is why you should not take this tier list to heart as much as the raiding one.

Specialization Highlights

Fire Mage

In the 10.1.5 patch, Fire Mage received a bunch of changes, and they feel fresh and diverse compared to before. There are quite a lot of different ways that this specialization can be played in Mythic+, and combined with the standard Mage tools such as Time Warp, Dragon’s Breath, Mass Invisibility, and all the other tools, the spec is just top tier at the moment.

Frost Mage

Just like the Fire Mage, there is so much utility that this class can bring to a Mythic+ group, and having a group without a Mage is incredibly rare. Frost Mage also received some changes in the latest patch, but they are not as massive as the Fire Mage. However, one big change is that they have way more AOE tools than they did in the past, and Frost is now viable in Mythic+ and not just in WoW PvP like tradition tends to be.

Shadow Priest

If you have the patience to learn all of the utility and the rotation that a Shadow Priest can bring to the M+ party, you will be wanted in every single run. There is just so much that this class can do, and even if some parts got nerfed when it comes to AOE, single-target damage has been increased, which is great for the Tyrannical affix that lasts for a whole week. If you are looking for a class where you have a lot of buttons, Shadow Priest is the one to go for.

Augmentation Evoker

Last but not least, we are going to talk about the Augmentation Evoker, and just like we said in the Raid tier list (where they did take the top spot), a lot of Augmentation Evoker’s abilities are dependent on their party members. If you have a part with top-tier players, this specialization is easily the best in the game for most scenarios, but if your party sucks, you will have trouble seeing success even on lower keys.
