Unfortunately, we find this operator lagging behind some of its competitors when it comes to the number of available payment methods. Visa and Mastercard are the two credit/debit card options at Tipico. Customers can also use a Paysafecard to place their esports bets, while Tipico Pay is available to those customers who download and use the site’s mobile app. Customers can also use Skrill and Neteller to deposit and withdraw funds. A final option is bank transfer. The glaring omission on the operator’s list of payment options is PayPal, which is particularly strange when the site features a box inviting players to sign up and bet using PayPal. When it comes to withdrawals, all the same options are available, except Tipico Pay. Overall, the list of payment options is quite limited. Fans of League of Legends betting could recently place wagers on the NA LCS Spring Split, which featured teams like Team SoloMid and FlyQuest. For customers who want to bet on their DotA 2 heroes can place wagers on the Asia Championship. At the time of writing, there were no other DotA 2 ranking events on the site on which players could bet. If you want to place a CS:GO bet, you have a choice of CS:GO betting markets available at Tipico.
While the range may not be comprehensive, we have to give Tipico its due for bringing customers a wider choice than just CS:GO betting, DotA 2 betting and League of Legends betting. As esports continue to grow in popularity, among fans and bettors alike, hopefully Tipico (and other mainstream bookies) will take a look at the esports growth statistics and widen their offering to give users an even wider and deeper choice of markets.
Live StreamingDisappointing in-play and streaming choices at Tipico
This is another aspect of Tipico which will be a disappointment to anyone who wants to place an esport bet. As far as we can tell, there are currently no in-play markets available for players at Tipico on esports. So, while you can place a CS:GO bet and also bet on League of Legends events, you can’t take part in the excitement of in-play. Perhaps Tipico will carry out some esports industry analysis soon and introduce this to their offering. Given the accessibility issues we’ve flagged up already, it is possible that in-play is available in some countries in which Tipico operates, so it’s worth checking out the site to see what’s available. The live options are listed next to each event. There is also no live streaming option. Many of the sites that do offer live streaming of traditional sports do not extend this service to esports, so we’re certainly not going to penalise Tipico on this aspect of the offering. However, overall, we were disappointed by the lack of in-play options available for esports at this operator and therefore we have awarded a low Tipico rating for this category.

This also has the advantage of making it simpler to compare esports odds, and to calculate winnings. At the time of writing, odds were being offered on both the winners of individual matches, and the overall winner of tournaments, such as the DotA Asia Championships.
When it comes to limits, Tipico sets a rather modest limit of €100,000 per week per customer as the maximum that any player can win. While more than sufficient for most players, we have certainly seen higher limits available from other operators. Our review highlights that customer service options at Tipico are quite limited. There is no phone line, and while the site claims that a live chat function is available, the times at which it is online are unclear. To access customer support, scroll to the bottom of the page to the ‘contact us’ link. You’ll also see options displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. Things look brighter for this operator when it comes to FAQs.
While maybe not the most attractively designed FAQ page, it certainly does the job when it comes to providing answers to common queries, from a problem with your esports bet to an issue with cashing out. Another thing working in Tipico’s favour is that, according to the FAQs, it is open to requests to add more markets to its current offering. Of course, there are no guarantees, but all you esports fans out there can at least ask for your favourite leagues and events to be included. Who knows? Maybe the folks at Tipico will agree!

ConclusionNot the best esports site out there but still worth a look
It has to be said that there are more appealing places where you can place an esport bet than Tipico. While there is Dota 2 betting and CS:GO betting available and you can bet on League of Legends, Star Craft II and other markets, overall we found the variety to be quite limited. Hopefully, the operator will incorporate more games in esports soon to help it compete with other online bookies. Other negatives we found when conducting our review included the limited customer support service. One of the big downsides is the accessibility of this operator’s service, with UK customers left disappointed when trying to register. Of course, it’s not all bad news. On the plus side, this operator does offer a nice welcome bonus that is more generous than some we’ve come across. While we weren’t big fans of the starkly designed site, it is easy to navigate and to find available markets. There is a mobile offering too. Overall, we have to give Tipico plaudits for offering a platform on which we can bet on League of Legends, CS:GO and other markets. With a few improvements, and by opening up the site to customers from a wider range of countries, there’s no reason why Tipico can’t be among the best esports betting sites. For the time being, however, we have to award the operator a slightly disappointing rating.
