Esports World Cup (EWC) – Free Fire: Teams, prize pool, and more

The Esports World Cup 2024, the biggest esports event in history by prize pool, is set to happen this Summer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and one of the most anticipated titles is Free Fire. The EWC Free Fire will have a total prize pool of $1 million, with 18 teams qualifying through regional leagues for the tournament, scheduled from July 10 to 14. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Several tournaments in the EWC are third-party affairs while others are a part of the game’s official esports roadmap. Free Fire is one of the titles which is a part of the official roadmap. This means that Garena is involved in the event. Therefore, the developer has also announced that the winner of the EWC Free Fire will earn a slot at the World Series (FFWS) Global Finals later this year.

Who are the teams in the Esports World Cup – Free Fire?

Eighteen teams will qualify for the event through official regional leagues and third-party qualifiers. These are as follows:

  • SPS Mobile Masters: Twisted Minds and Fluxo
  • Pakistan Qualifier: TBD
  • MEA Qualifier: TBD
  • FFWS SEA Spring: Top eight teams will qualify
  • FFWS LATAM Split 1: Three teams will qualify
  • FFWS Brazil Split 1: Three teams will qualify

What is the schedule?

The complete schedule for the Esports World Cup – Free Fire 2024 is as follows:

  • Knockout stage: July 10 to 12
  • Point-rush stage: July 13
  • Grand Finals: July 14

Esports World Cup – Free Fire will have a unique format

The EWC Free Fire has introduced a unique format for the tournament, particularly due to the Point-Rush stage.

Knockout stage

  • The 18 teams will be split into three event groups.
  • Two groups will compete at a time in a round-robin format for a total of 18 matches (six per day).
  • The top 12 will advance to the Point-Rush stage.

Point Rush stage

  • All the teams in the Point Rush stage have already been guaranteed a slot in the Grand Final.
  • However, in this stage, they will be competing for head start points in the Grand Final.
  • The one-day Point Rush stage will enable teams to give there all for some extra points in the Grand Finals.

Grand Finals

  • Finally, the 12 teams will converge in the Grand Finals to crown the inaugural EWC Free Fire champions.
  • Six matches will take place in Riyadh to determine the winner.

With Garena being officially involved in the Esports World Cup Free Fire, the tournament will likely be broadcasted on the official Free Fire esports channels.
