How to Use Aspects in Diablo 4 – Complete Aspect Guide
Collecting powerful loot and crafting the best possible character is the name of the game in Diablo 4. Players spend countless hours searching for that best-in-slot item, often ending the season without achieving that goal. Diablo 4 has found a solution to this through the Legendary Aspect system.
Legendary Aspects are special powers that greatly enhance your gear. They can be imprinted onto existing items, granting the players the option to customize and create unique builds. We’ll teach players in Diablo 4 how to use Aspects, and show where to find these powerful powers in the world of Diablo 4.
Diablo 4 Aspects Explained
Some of the best Diablo 4 items you can find are the Legendary items. These items can roll some incredibly desirable stats, and come with a set power that enhances a certain aspect of a class. It is possible to find the perfect legendary item with all the right stats and the best power you’re looking for, but more often than not, that ends up not being the case. This special power in an item is called an Aspect.

Aspects can be extracted or imprinted, depending on what you’re looking for. Say you find a terrible weapon with all the wrong stats, but the Aspect on that weapon is perfect for your Diablo 4 class. In this case, you can simply extract the aspect and save it for later use.
One day, when you find another weapon with perfectly rolled stats, you can take that same aspect from before and imprint it into your new weapon. This way, you can create near-perfect items that will boost your overall build dramatically.
How to Get Aspects
Obtaining Aspects is relatively easy, and there are three ways to do it:
- Extracting the Legendary Aspect – As we mentioned earlier, you can simply extract the Aspects you want from Legendary gear you collect, and save for later use.
- Get Legendary Aspects from Dungeons – When you complete a dungeon for the first time, you will receive an Aspect, if that dungeon is associated with an Aspect. You can check your Codex of Power to check which dungeons you need for your class’ aspects, and finish those first.
- Seasonal Aspects – The final way to receive Aspects is via seasonal activities. You will complete some objectives in your Season Journeys tab and be awarded Aspects and other cool items. Check out our full Diablo 4 Battle Pass guide to learn more.
Using the Aspects in Diablo 4
To extract or imprint an Aspect, you’ll have to visit the Occultist. This special NPC will open a separate window in the game where you can extract a specific Aspect from an item. Be careful, though, the extracted item will be destroyed in the process. Before you proceed, make sure you’re selecting the correct item.
Codex of Power
Codex of Power contains all the information regarding Aspects in Diablo 4. It shows all the Aspects you can unlock through dungeons, and it’s pretty easy to track and complete. Aspects collected through the Codex of Power can be reused infinitely, but they have a huge downside. These Aspects always have the lowest possible rolls, which makes them perfect while leveling characters.
Additionally, these Aspects become account-bound once unlocked, which is another nice perk. Let’s say you play a Barbarian build, but you find several Druid Aspects in your playthrough. Next time you level a Druid, you’ll be able to use all the unlocked Aspects from the Codex of Power, without having to clear the same dungeons again.
